They can do some great things now with the artificial euro mounts too. Congrats on your success as I followed your posts as well and know you were well prepared.
Thank you. As others have done (which I really liked the idea), I am planning on doing a euro mount with the horns and having a replica set of horns used for a shoulder mount. Best of both worlds. I am partial to euro mounts.
Same scenario. But only 5’2” 125 myself. Establish a relationship with a good tailor. I can get pants to fit in the legs but the inseam and waist is always off. Worth the extra few bucks to have them fit perfect.
As others echoed Toronto Pearson Airport sucks. My sheep cape and skull cleared customs but they didn’t make it on my flight from Toronto to Detroit despite first class priority bag tag. That airport is awful. Unfortunately not many other options for me unless I wanted additional layovers...
For food I ate two packets of high protein oatmeal for breakfast, a peak refuel for dinner and my midmorning snack was a nutbuttwr cliff bar, lunch was a sandwhich thin with almond butter, 1oz fritos mixed with 0.6 oz of cheese crisps (dried cheese the ones you put on salad), 3 pieces of dark...
Several have asked about my pack list here it is. 46lb pack weight with everything but water. There was water everywhere so typically carried a liter with me at all times. I am paranoid and always filter. With water still under 50. Ill post detailed food list as well.
A few blisters and a little soreness (and one fall that left me wedged in between some big rocks) but my body held in there. Agree with what others have said 90% of it is mental.
Close but no. 39 1/4 both sides. 32 inch tip-tip. A little shallow on the curl to break the 40 inch mark. I was chasing more of a “look” than number and he was exactly what I dreamed of in a ram. He has good mass for the NWT and carries it will.
It has been a long time coming. I initially booked a 2020 dall hunt with Gana River in 2018. I had been dreaming of chasing sheep since I was a kid. We all know what happened the last two years, but the time actually went by fast. Unfortunately between when I was supposed to go in 2020 and 2022...
Whatever you chose do be driven to be the best at it. In general, people that have a career are happier than those that just have a job regardless of income. The most important thing that I hope to pass on to my kids is work ethic.
I have owned SLC, EL, and NLs primary 10x42, 8x32. I now own the NL 8x32 and 10x42. I dont think you can beat an 8x32 for eastern whitetail or timber hunting. The field of view is amazing on the NL but honestly I think the form factor is better in the EL 8x32 and would be what I would be looking...
I agree with what others have said. I really like Hawkins. They are just a little bit more substantial than Talley without adding much weight. I ran Talleys for a while and never personally had and issue but have more peace of mind once I switched.
