I have been wondering for a long time what are the best low light rifle scopes. I have bought a lot of scopes over the 72 years of my life but I have only owned one or two semi- high end scopes. I do know that generally speaking the less magnification the better the lower light capability. I'm...
I have used Barnes copper bullets for years and they are a very good bullet. I still sometimes use them as I have several boxes of them I bought a few years ago. I haven't had issues even when they didn't hit bone.
I've not used them on elk but if they open up fine on deer I don't know why they...
I don't personally have experience with doing it but I have a friend in Wyoming who uses a 28 Nosler and highly recommends shooting Elk in the Shoulder with a 143 gn Hammer copper bullet and has taken several Elk using the combination. He says when you take out the shoulder they don't get back...
This is one time that I don't mind being wrong since I'm likely to get a refund instead of a tag this year if all the soothsayers are correct. My first and only time I entered the Montana draw was in 2021 and I didn't have to deal with a refund except that I had put in for a 900 LE unit that I...
Speaking of folks who don't draw only getting 80% back, if that number is correct means that Montana is not only profiting well from the folks who draw, they aren't doing so bad either from the folks who don't draw. It's definitely a win-win for Montana. The more folks that enter the more...
Not so fast! :geek: Tell me if I'm wrong "god knows someone will". If you apply, I'm thinking that's 1K give or take out of your pocket to apply. So then with one point you don't draw, but don't you only get 80% back and so that point cost you roughly 200 dollars VS 100 if later you purchase a...
That's a good question, I have no clue of course, but a great question:unsure:
Maybe a lawyer in the crowd will enlighten us. Reading all these posts like "isn't there a simpler way to do this? My we brain is starting to hurt from all this thinking o_O
This is more of a reminder to bring mostly because it's the couple things I have forgot in a row but only applies if you are camping at a Forest service road and that's a "Shovel and a Bucket." It's a requirement I forgot several times and I ended up buying them in my hunt area, so now I have...
I can't say for sure what I said was right, but it sure drew a flurry of response anyway.:p
Apparently, there was a huge change in odds from 2020 to 2022. I drew in 2020 with just one point! I know not everyone drew that year with just one point but many did. I didn't follow the draw last year...
You folks with 2.5 and even 2 points are in probably in the 90%+ chance range of drawing so I wouldn't be too worried. Now me with 1 point yea, I'm worried but maybe I still have 10% chance. Most other types of drawings I'm in my chances of winning are infinitely smaller. One in a million you...
I heard that last year some folks got notified on the 12th about the draw so I just check twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening as I figure that helps balance it out. I don't want to tip the boat. That said, it still says the same thing it said yesterday, "Pending".
Mine still just says Pending so it looks like nothing definitely decided on my application yet.

I'm 72. Not the worst off except my knees have given me trouble the last few years. A few years ago I would work up to running a few miles but my knees won't any longer let me run. So I'm just hoping I can be able to walk fast a few miles a day to help me get in shape for this years hut/hunts...
I started this thread. My idea to move the stock rear sight to the 1st scope screw hole was a failure as it turned out. Mounted this way, we we couldn't get enough elevation. At 30 yards we were maybe 2" low but about 5" low maxed out at 100 yards. Maybe I could have put a small shim under...
I appreciate the input and you may be correct on your assement Themic86. However when I got up this morning before going online I looked at the set up again and decided to go ahead and try to move the rear sight closer to my eye. Before doing so I happened to do a little left/right tug on the...
Looks like the perfect option to me, only problem, this Saturday starts ML season. Not sure I could order one, have it here, on the gun and sighted in by Saturday. I'm pretty much stuck with using what I have on hand for now anyway.
I am mostly wondering right now if remounting the rear...
