I’m very fortunate to have lived amongst wintering elk for the last 20 years….. and archery hunt the fall ranges ~20 miles from our home.
I’ve spent the last 25 years following bulls, and the cat.
It’s an obsession of mine.
Apologies if I’ve come off as conceited.
But, what I could show you...
I’m right there with you (CO. otc some years, full freezer)
I hunt basins. Some small, some big, some giant.
I understand how the elk move, when and why.
I also know where they typically go when pressured.
I’m just saying, unless you’re totally dialed, it’s a very difficult tactic and saying...
This is your answer.
Don’t use any bait/food.
Use the trap with the fake yellow cheese square.
Put fake yellow cheese part against the baseboard, behind your toilet.
Well now we’re usps bashing.. lemme tell you!
I live in rural foothills Colorado.
I had a $1000 AR upper shipped to me, usps.
We have lockable package boxes, up at our regular mail box.
Freakin guy leaves the upper (in a box) just laying on the ground, under the damn package lock box.
I...
While I don’t disagree unchecked predators, combined with an exploding human population will ultimately lead to more attacks…
There have been 5 dozen attacks and a dozen human deaths by cougar from 1890-1990.
Long before season closures or liberal politics.
Just because a cat attacked...
May have been mentioned…
September and November are completely different seasons.

Mid- Attack pants and Bino harness.

Love it!
Sorry fellas, being that Rokslide is a dedicated western DIY hunting site…I just figured you’d understand what Do It Yourself meant.
I guess with the current state of the world, getting coordinates and handouts is the new norm for DIY.
Kinda like chicks with dicks, I suppose.
As mentioned, 25 years, 100% DIY.
If you don’t think I’ve enjoyed the experience, of Colorado DIY archery starting 25 years ago, because of some meme you read on your computer-
You don’t know true DIY
I believe moose was the mentioned game in this DIY discussion?
Moose don’t move a lot.
Either way, I still don’t agree.
Scent?
I don’t think we’re on the same page.
I don’t agree, an opinion coming from a 100% DIY CO. archery hunter for 25 years.
If someone told me coordinates, roughly 80% of the work has been done for me, which doesn’t even sniff true DIY.
A float plane or bush plane just add another layer, of which someone else is working for you, for...
Thank you, duh!
I got it together, thanks for the info and thanks for the heads up OP, on the deal.
With my limited knowledge on tripods, this setup seems super solid.
Last piece to my coyote hunting puzzle.

Do It Yourself
My thoughts are, if someone tells you where to go, it’s not DIY…because you haven’t done it by yourself, and typically the most difficult part is, figuring out where to go.
Someone, as in an acquaintance?
If not, and the only help was a bush pilot dropping you off at a location you figured out, that’s DIY.
No difference in the commercial airline that got you to the bush plane location, as far as DIY, in my opinion.
