Elk hunting is my thing, but the last few years I've been trying to spend a little more time focusing on deer. Where I grew up deer hunting in the NW we don't really have a deer migration, at least during the early Oct seasons there.
I've been in W CO for the last few days scouting for my...
That is the main issue to me. The hunting part is ok, but what happens after a kill is the part that gets dicey. I've been in the SW this year(killed two nice bulls), but I'll be back in WY next year in grizz country. Trying to figure out a plan to hunt where I want, but also be able to get a...
Well my son met his goal of a good 6 point and I met mine of a 340+ bull ;) Looked over a lot of bulls. Never seen so many 5 points in my life. I didn't even carry my bow for the 1st 8 days so I could concentrate on finding a bull my son wanted. I shot mine 30 minutes into my hunt. He went 343...
I've been a fixed, cut on contact guy for a long time. I still own a whole bunch of Slick Trick Razor Tricks that I bought when they stopped making them. Killed a pile of bulls with them. But... I started my son using the gravedigger hybrids last year and will be using them myself this fall in...
Pretty much the same as most OR units. Too many roads to make backpack/backcountry worth it. Good genetics, but the best/smartest bulls stay close to private during the rut. Doesn't mean they can't be killed on public tho ;)
I moved to WA 5 years ago from OR. Still have never hunted in WA and probably never will or maybe once if I draw an eastside archery bull tag. Just too many better options than to waste time around here and BTW I live in South Central WA around MT Adams which is some of the better OTC hunting...
I have worked remotely for more than 2 decades. As long as I have a cell signal or wifi I can work from anywhere in the world. With that said I also have many weeks a year of pto so I usually take a few during hunting season. Normal MO is to live/work remotely while scouting and maybe part of a...
I would do the same in your boat. I've been doing this a long time.... I will be in NM the 3rd week of August, at least a week before the season starts, then the entire 14 days of the season. Then a couple weeks in AZ for my elk hunt there. Then headed to CO to scout a few weeks before my deer...
I will be holding out for a 330+ bull, but also fine if I don't shoot one. I'll be there for 3+ weeks and then I have an AZ archery tag after so I will be picky. This will be mostly about getting my son a good bull. He'll probably shoot the first decent 6 point he sees. He held out last year in...
Grow a sack and go hunt! Seriously, if you're going to take someone's tag then don't think about being a wussy(part women part pussy). Get out in the mountains and learn. There are no real secrets to being comfortable in the elk mountains. You got it or you don't, you do it or you don't. If...
Yep! What's funny is the dudes that watch his hunts and actually think he is a hunter.
The funniest thing I have ever seen is him hauling an elk 1/4 over his shoulder with his truck parked on the CMWU road a couple hundred yards away! :)
#keephammering the bunk houses cam!
Get ahold of Cam Haynes. He should be able to tell you where to buy a big bull without actually having to hunt for it. He's been making a living doing it!
You might have to run around in a leotard and do lots of brodown guns out stuff, but it will be worth it. You'll have that big bull to stare...
