How late it too late to totally change careers? Who's done it (w/o being $$-secure already)?

Good gravy, folks. Thanks so much! I started adding all your comments in the "multiple quote" option but I think I'm gonna chill and re-read your comments before replying. I applaud all of you who have done whatever it took to do what you did for yourselves, your families, and your careers. If...

To hunt private land in CO… need their LPP tag?

I re-visited this thread and was surprised to see a reply from me not here. I did it from my phone and must have not actually hit the "post reply" button. I am sure it said something to the effect of: Thanks for the replies. I had viewed the Regs but it was the term voucher that me thrown off...

Do gun manufacturers add calibers to a line of guns as market changes?

Please( No substantial or valid reason. Once I watched a YouTube video about the cartridge, then my feed was filled with suggested vids about it. If Browning was putting it in their new xbolts, then... I could stick with 308 but the world's my oyster if I'm going with a new gun. My buddy...

To hunt private land in CO… need their LPP tag?

Never hunted the West or any place with PP and the like. Decided on an diy antelope hunt but learned it might be best to build up a few PPs. Realized I had an open invite to hunt a farm in CO for mule deer. Buddy doesn't hunt big game himself and said "I think we could put you on a nice...

Do gun manufacturers add calibers to a line of guns as market changes?

I don't reload but might try that out with a friend's setup someday. I shoot 308 at the moment. No real reason to switch other than watching too much YouTube and thinking I need something else! If 308 is something that can handle elk and long-distance stuff, then I could stick right there. (I...

Do gun manufacturers add calibers to a line of guns as market changes?

I'm looking at replacing my only rifle, a Ruger No 1 in 308. I'm no where near decided on the calibers I'd like. I hunt whitetails here in the East but looking to try for muleys and pronghorns soon. I'd also like to be able to do some long(ish)-distance shooting. 5-800 yds maybe? I haven't...

    Digiscoping with binoculars

I don't know if the "k" is necessary but I've been "diginocking" for 20 years. Sure, a scope is better but if you only have binoculars, then love the one you're with! I bought a phone adapter for it and it works great.

    Up to date aerial mapping

They're not usually more recent than Google in my experience/area, but still good. You can also download them as a shapefile and import into Google Earth Pro (desktop) as a layer. Then if that layer is selected, you can click on a parcel and see the owner. *This layer will not update if...

    Wyoming maps

I'm a Google Maps/Earth guy but I've always enjoyed an atlas, especially the state atlases from DeLorme, so I bought a Wyoming one off eBay for like $6. I could see it extremely valuable for passengers on the trip out and for prepping this winter. Examples from Google. The map example is from...

Walmart 22in Blackstone lid and carrying case

Like a goofball, I put one in my cart, debated it, wife thought it was a good idea, and then I forgot to go checkout. Now, out of stock. Nothing regionally. :|

Thanks for the reply. I'm on the east coast and would certainly rack up some miles... But I like the idea of a road trip because I haven't don't it before and it's like my son to see the country, too.

    New guy from NC

Thanks. I live in (far) eastern NC in what used to be part of the Great Dismal Swamp. We don't have the largest bucks around but there are some. We DO have lots of black bear, big ones, too. The world record (880#) is from nearby. 700-pounders are taken every year it seems. Some nice game...

How late it too late to totally change careers? Who's done it (w/o being $$-secure already)?

I think it was a thread I saw on Rokslide about "what we do for a living/what funds the hunting" that made me think about posting this here. Not sure if this is complicated or if it's a common situation - probably more so than I realize. I know we barely know each other - what is this, maybe...

    Utah Pronghorn Success

Great story and thanks for sharing! I saw the Hertz van in another thread and was thinking about it... --------------- (Backstory: On Nov 1, I decided I want to try for a western antelope on public land, DIY, probably in WY. On Nov 2, I discovered that the previous day was the last day to...
