    Kifaru 2020

I'm going to wish for a 22mag/cargo panel as well. I've been coveting a Stryker for a while but I don't think it would pack my cold weather layers like I would want it to.

    MT extra rifle question

You do not need a pistol permit in Montana. The only place you would need a concealed carry permit is inside city limits or in your vehicle on public roads, IF the pistol is wholely or partially concealed by clothing. If they want to bring a handgun for protection they could do that no problem...

Federal Terminal Ascent Bullets - Anyone used em?

Shot another box today. I shot out to 975yds. I was standing off the tripod as it was muddy and I hadn't brought anything to lay down on. Past 660 I was predictably mediocre with the high winds and shooting position (not to mention the shooter), but I changed the g7 to .258. This brought the...

    9mm backcountry?

I haven't been able to find any in stock. I've been excited about the line since they announced it's release. All the boutique ammo loaders load their ammo hot, resulting increased slide speeds and corresponding reliability issues. A heavy for caliber hard cast at a standard speed would...

Federal Terminal Ascent Bullets - Anyone used em?

I bought some Terminal Ascent loaded ammunition for my 06 and just had my first range session with them. Accuracy was ok, right at 1 MOA. Not as well as I had hoped but it will do just fine out the the distances I'll shoot an animal. I'm also not getting to shoot a rifle as often as I would...

    Best Glassing Tripod

This is the answer here, for me at least. I have a RRS-23 (wish I had the 24L) and their BH-40 ball head and it works well for glassing and shooting off of. I haven't used the anvil-30 but I'm betting it would be better for shooting, but you give up the pan feature with it. I believe that RRS...

    New water bladder.

I replaced my old CamelBak with a platypus big zip Evo. I only have a little bit of time but I really like it so far. Easy to open and fill, and the disconnect from the hose lets me keep the hose rigged up and just pull the bladder from the pack to fill it. Just initial impressions, but I'm...

    Possible issue with Beartooth 2’s

The timberlines are my uninsulated boots. They are by far the favorite boots I've had. I hope they work well for you.

    MSR fuel question

https://www.msrgear.com/blog/ins-outs-canister-fuels/ I think this was linked in another thread on here. Obviously pimping MSR, but the information seems solid.

    Cameraland

Doug is absolutely the man. He just helped me get service for a set of binos that I didn't even buy from him. I work overseas so didn't get a chance to open the box until I was outside of the other vendor's return policy. Doug got me in touch with a company rep at Leica who's taking care of...

    Possible issue with Beartooth 2’s

I had that same issue with my insulated Beartooths initially. It went away fairly quickly as they broke in.

    MSR fuel question

I can't help you with respect to the MSR stoves specifically. I can say that the MSR fuel blend has worked much better for me at low temperatures than Jetboil brand in my Jetboil flash. Purely qualitative observations. I don't have numbers to back that up.

Stay on case for Swaro 15x56

I ended up with the Rick Young cover. It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

    Hilleberg Tents

Thanks for that video! So the answer is obviously that I am retarded! I want to say I've been trying exactly that but I'll have to mess with it further.

    Schnee's Beartooth Break-In

I had the same "crease" with my insulated Beartooths. I've just been wearing them around for shorter hikes and it has gone away.

    Hilleberg Tents

I'm going to add my one complaint with the Hilleberg Rogen. The lower guyline attachment for the vestibule is on the wrong side (short side) of the vestibule. The short side will roll up and secure nicely with the loop and toggle. The location of the loop and toggle on the long side doesn't...

    9mm backcountry?

If you're wanting something light, the g48 /g43x might suit your needs well. I run my g48 in a razco holster under an FHF bino harness. It's about as small a pistol that I feel I can shoot almost as well as the G19 sized guns. I haven't tried any heavy hardcast loads in it yet so I don't know...

KUIU Super Down vs. Western Mountaineering Badger, 15-degree bags

I know this isn't one of the bags discussed but it's a Western Mountaneering bag. I just woke up in my WM Antelope (5 degree rating) and the truck said 6 degrees, at some point last night I had to loosen the draft collar as I was too hot. Sleeping on a thermarest xtherm inside a Hilleberg...

    Hilleberg Tents

The only thing holding the vestibules out from the factory is staking out the loop at the bottom of the zipper. There are attachment points for guylines, just had to buy lines and put them on myself. One thing that is annoying is the guy lines attach to the "short side" of the vestibule. That is...
