    T-Rex Killer

I've been wanting a Marlin 45-70 for a while but it's on my long list as I just don't have a true "need" at this time and I doubt it would be something I'd consider a fun range gun. Still, there's something about them that always keeps my attention.

    HH Rain gear

Now that is interesting. You'd think that any water outside on the saddle would be running off pretty quickly. I wonder if riding horseback put strain on those seams that caused them to fail. I haven't ridden in years but from what I remember, it put strain on my seams. :cautious:

    HH Rain gear

Quiet? No. It's a PVC or whatever coated material. But then again, if you are wearing it, it's probably raining and rain makes a bit of noise too. There are always compromises to be made. Breathable and quiet will wet out and fail at some point. Waterproof and non-breathable will make more...

Flying with bow and hand gun

Pick up a cheap AR lower from Palmetto State Armory for $30-$40 bucks. It's a registered firearm. Once your travel is complete, spend the winter acquiring parts and building a gun. Next year, rinse and repeat! :D

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

Yep, again to my point, someone who truly wants to get into your secured items will find a way. Just like gun safes, padlocked gun cases, locked car doors, locked home doors, etc. etc. it's mostly to keep the honest person honest and to add time and difficulty to the person that does want in...

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

"Only the passenger should retain the key or combination to the lock unless TSA personnel request the key to open the firearm container to ensure compliance with TSA regulations. You may use any brand or type of lock to secure your firearm case, including TSA-recognized locks. "...

    Down Puffy

My Trail is the old GoLite more or less. I know people that have the old GoLite down jackets and love them. Can't really say if these newer ones are the same design or construction quality though.

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

One thing you might consider, seeing that you are in the Atlanta area, is hitting a Lowe's, Home Depot or even better, a smaller hardware store. Take the case with you and just let them know you are looking for locks to fit it. Granted, most of the time the locks are in secured packaging but...

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

Yeah, I just checked the TSA website. I couldn't find it in writing that I saw but their little video does say that all locking points on the case should be locked. Better safe than sorry I guess and put locks on them all. Still though, you don't need heavy duty, expensive locks. Here's 6...

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

When you have a firearm in that case and it is locked with your own locks Bruce? So they are cutting off all of your locks? They'd have to since you are the only one with a key for them. If that "always" happens, I'd be notifying the authorities because that means someone had access to a...

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

Ah, yeah, that can be annoying. I've had them ask for ID for rod cases too. Especially for things that don't come out of the regular luggage drop like over-sized or special items. And yes, I understand your point about putting a pistol in a duffel. I've done it many times and agree that it...

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

Here's the one thing that I've always wondered. Um, lighten up bud. Just poking a little fun. As I mentioned, you don't need super tough grade locks anyway. Just something to keep an honest person honest. They already have tools, I have to assume, to cut locks since they can and do on...

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

Which case do you have exactly? Or, a photo would help. Like this one? If it were me, I'd lock the ends and the two in the middle. That should be plenty to satisfy TSA I'd think. Not sure how far you are from the airport but it might be worth a trip before your departure date if you are...

SKB bow case - # of padlocks for airline travel?

If you have a gun in a bow case, it essentially becomes a gun case. As you say, it screams weapon so might as well put a weapon in it. That is why you use non-TSA locks on it. At that point, nobody should be accessing the case after you lock it up. To me, this is ideal since they can't mess...

Flying with bow and hand gun

Oh, one other suggestion. Look up the TSA regulations and your airlines regulations for travel with firearms. Print them out to have with you or at a minimum have links on your phone at the ready just in case there is an issue. Also, be polite and patient. These folks are just doing their job.

Flying with bow and hand gun

Hmm, that could work. I'm out of town right now so I cannot check what I use or which case I have. I think it's the double bow case. I do seem to recall needing longer shackles on locks but I can't remember if it's for the bow case or my rifle case. I can check next week when I'm back home.
