I gut the animal and crawl inside it like a Tauntaun just for the warmth. It'll keep you warm until Han can setup the camp...or so I'm told.
As others have said, if there's no bears, what's the concern?
Really? I wasn't aware of that. Still, just goes to show how confusing it can be with the whole tipping situation and transparency. I guess I won't tip the bartender when I fly through SeaTac tomorrow :D
Looks like you are correct. Granted, I only Googled it and clicked the first link but...
You do realize that servers at restaurants make very little in wages, right? I don't know what the norm is now but it's well below minimum wage, maybe $5/hr. This is because they are truly working for tips. I'm not a fan of the system but remember, when you don't tip them, they aren't getting...
Wow. So you and your fellow guides will intentionally make an effort to give a paying client a hard time based on your unfounded assumptions about how they might tip? Please post what outfitter you work for.

That's not really a fair argument. You have entered a contract with the electric company much like you do with an outfitter. You agree to pay the assessed fees as defined by the contract. You don't tip your electric company when the power doesn't go out for the whole month or when the crew...
William Hanson (Live2Hunt) did it a while ago. I've kinda been out of the loop so I'm not sure if he's still doing tent mods and stuff.
Honestly, it would be pretty simple to do yourself if you have a sewing machine. You'd just want to reinforce the area with extra material and then sew on a...
Any time I travel to Canada, I want to go through customs at the last stop, not a connection. As Doc Holliday states, it can be a huge pain. I have even been pulled aside a couple times, though not in Toronto, for further questions. Granted, that was usually because I was going there for work...
My thoughts, I don't tip the owner if he/she is the guide as they are already making the money. If it's an employee, my expectation is to tip when they go above and beyond and/or provide good service, much like a server at a restaurant. Any lacky can bring you food or take you into the field...
It also depends on how you pitch it. I prefer to pitch the Cimarron off the ground a bit to get air flow. This will give you a lot more room but doesn't work as well in colder weather when there are cold drafts coming in. I actually had some extra guy points stitched into my Cimarron to pull...
HH Impertech stuff is great but keep in mind that it does not breathe at all. If you are mostly stationary, it will keep you dry for sure. However, if you are moving, you'll get wetter from sweat than from the rain.
My understanding is that silnylon and Cuben is not breathable but fantastic for the shelters you mention (not bivys). You will get condensation but mitigate that with venting and air flow. For a bivy, look for a breathable, water"proof" material if you will be sleeping out in the elements...
