    I only saw one bow hunter in 17 days. He was on a major trail. I saw over 15 muzzle loaders all on ATVs causing a complete disaster. Just my experience. Yours may differ.

    Muzzle loader during first week of October would be a huge step to removing that huge S*** show out of what is a nice peaceful archery season. Archery guys wearing orange... ya I don't think many will comply. Sure, take it when you get leave the truck but good luck finding guys back in it.

    New Guy Trying Elk

    I would come out to scout in August for 10 days. Get into 3-4 units with a day or two in each and just enjoy some time with boots on the ground. Spend the remaining 7 hunting in September. Day or so can go both ways. You will have a hunting plan, with multiple backups.

    I would let him shoot whatever legal deer or monster buck that comes by. It's not about who pulls the trigger when it's a father, son hunt. It's about the time spent with him in the woods and the experience. I say let him shoot them. I personally get more joy that way then having myself...

    Rifle for a better chance of being successful right out of the gate. Archery is not easy. You may see elk but getting them to commit and be in range with the perfect setup, not see you draw, have an ethical shot, and not get winded... that may take you years of being into elk archery hunting...
