A gun for my son

I'd like to build my son a gun as a gift. Kind of a "crossing the threshold to manhood" kind of thing. It can be an off the shelf gun, but I'd like something kinda of versatile. He'll be 13-14 when I give it to him, and I plan on us going on an antelope hunt to celebrate using it. Would also...

Flying moose rack RAVN/Delta

I used Alaska Trophy Express. $900 got me my antlers and all my meat shipped to Ohio. I have to drive about 2 1/2 hours to a pickup point to get it, but i was happy with that.

it's all relative. And for someone who has to travel 1/2 a world away, it was well worth it. Now, back to work so I can try to fund another trip like this.

it was a heck of an adventure. I've never gone on a hunt that long or got up every day like that. My wife who's never so much as sat in a deer stand with me was in on the whole thing 100 hours in 9 days. Incredible views, good people, and a lot of type 2 fun. What's not to love.

Scope for my sheep hunt

Worked like a dream for me last week on a moose at 300 yards. I 'd have no problems taking that scope into any hunting scenario.

Flying with guns and locks

Real good information here guys. I will print the TSA literature and I got key'd locks for my gun case. i'll carry a key with me and a second key in my pack. Thanks

Flying with guns and locks

Leaving on Friday and flying with guns for the first time. I bought some cable style TSA coded padlocks. They're easy to use and easy for me to open, but was talking to a buddy and he mentioned that if there's too much "slack" and the case can be opened enough to get a hand in kinda thing...

Which 350 Legend for whitetail

i put a 350 upper on my AR. a hawke 1x8 scope and away we go. I now have 2 guns my sons can hunt with. had my 11 year old on a bench saturday and the kid rang steel out at 350 yards with the Legend. I was impressed. Out of a short AR barrel no less. Not going to be hunting at that distance, but...

What magnification when pulling the trigger?

amazing how accurate you can be zoomed out. I always zoomed way in thinking I get a better look at the animal and target, but this last weekend, probably mostly due to luck, I was using my scope at 10x out to 600 yards and doing surprisingly well.
