planning an elk hunt with my 300 WSM. Used it in AK this fall and killed a bull moose at 300 with a 180 gr TTSX.
The round I developed is accurate to feel confident on a bench at 600 yards. I won't shoot that far or farther in western Colorado (either by terrain, or by my own handicap of...
it's a fantastic gun for accuracy and a light hitting gun that works really well for kids. i've killed deer with it. It will absolutely kill deer. But if you're not required to use a straightwall, i'd stick with my 243 or something with more energy.
I will use it if I'm sitting a field edge and...
the more I see of these and the more mental energy I spend thinking about them, the cooler they are and the more time I want to spend chasing them again.
I want more moose in my life
all good, it sounded self righteous, but maybe I read it wrong.
I am not there either, but I can see how folks find a way if it's important.
I get a kick out of how superior the "only public land" guys think they are. Some are. Some get a public land boner for themselves is all im saying
you know often times they're just paying that to get into an area with bulls of that caliber. Often times they hunt just as hard as the superior, snooty public land hunters. They just pay to get into an area where giants exist.
hating on those with disposable income is childish. And usually...
back in 2019 i built a 30x40' shop with a walk out basement that we could keep some small livestock in.
I concreted the top floor and have 2 parking bays for the kids vehicles when they get older. Wish i'd gone about 40x50 tho. I built a room for gun stuff and we put in a countertop for deer...
When people are talking width measurement on moose antlers. how is everyone measuring them?
I shot a pretty nice one and was told to measure maximum width from corresponding point on one side, to corresponding point on the other. On a whitetail, we measure widest outside width that you can...
it'll get t it done, but if I'm traveling across the world to a hunt of that magnitude, I'm taking something with more thunder. It's about personal confidence. I spent a lot of time with my 300 WSM this last year getting ready. Working on being sub MOA, and taking any fear of marginal shots out...
i'm mentally settling in between a 7mm-08 and a 270 winchester. If I want more punch a 270 WSM would get it done too...
I don't know much about the 7mm-08 but like my 7 RM
I don't know anything about the 7mm-08. I know it's a light recoil gun, but i looks like a pretty good rifle for anything in the lower 48. a classic 270 is pretty appealing too...
kuiu yukon kicked tail for me in the rain this fall...
Guides had stone Glacier and said it was junk. Also said most of the FL rain gear wasn't worth it either.
Loved my Yukon for dryness... Didn't add any warmth as far as a layer, but that's ok, it kept me dry
My buddy killed his 9-15 and I killed mine 9-19.
Hidden Alaska Adventures got us on them. not huge densities, but the kind of trip that had enough stories and character to keep my grandkids entertained some day.
58" wide and I couldn't be happier.
