I've killed a couple. But those are the rounds I moved away from. Wasn't pleased with penetration and blood trail. Mine were handloads, and they were accurate enough, but I found quite a few deer without a blood trail and lost a number becuase of no blood trail. I switched to Bear Creek...
This is good advice.
I was blessed enough to talk to a guy who'd hunted both successfully and unsuccessfully with my outfitter. He glowed about them.
One of our guides went on a combo hunt for 20+ days and didn't kill anything. He later became a guide with them. He thought highly enough of the...
I used the less expensive Tributarys from Simms and they worked fine. They were a little more blocky and less athletic than I'd have prefered, but we didn't walk a ton in them. My buddy had a set of Orvis boots that were more like a vasque or keen setup. He really like those.
Well, we're trying another way today. packed in kosher salt overnight then rinse the salt off and flat iron grill it. Not too optimistic. It's just a dense cut of meat.
If this doesn't work, we'll slow cook it in a crock pot and keep the whitetail backstraps for steak.
Hamburger for the...
Mine has been extremely tough as well... We shot him an hour before dark and cut him up the next day after gutting him. He was on the bone for 3 weeks (frozen).
The hamburger has been good, but the steaks have not been. Kinda disappointing as I have a bunch of it. Looks like a lot more crock...
Got to put the Bear Creeks to the test this weekend out of the AR. Both 30-40 yard shots. My 9 year old bang flopped one. Her legs tucked up to her chest before she even hit the ground. It was devastating and cool to watch.
15 minutes later mine came in and was trying to investigate the dead...
No harm done. And your moose is incredible.
You have every right to get it rescored and be proud of that baby.
I am a little jealous about the humblebrag that you've got 3 booner whitetails too... haha
All good man!
excellent!
I actually was able to slip out to the range today to get the guns final tuned on these new rounds before tomorrow. They did hit high and I adjusted out of that.
I like big blood trails. That's been my complaint on the factory ammo and even my FTX reloads.
sure you can rescore it. and I don't know you from anyone, but for someone who says they're not that into the score, you seem to be into the score. I will concede that you're is probably a book animal. Mine was not.
I know mine was 58" wide and had 4 brows on each side. That's enough for me...
Christmas Bonus is hitting and one of the things on my list is a spotting scope. Looking for good glass, but doesn't have to be brand new.
I would like something doing at least 60x, but more is ok too. I know the good scope brands, but being mostly an Ohio hunter, I've never dove much into the...
or it could have been in your truck bed. BRC has no reason to believe you're telling the truth. They could have, and arguably should have replaced them. Wouldn't have cost them anything. But I think your willingness to burn the whole thing down is laughable and petty. You live a charmed life...
Your perogative to buy elsewhere... But if a couple instant coffee packets gone wrong is the worst thing that happens to you this month, you're a blessed man.
I'd make the argument that even if they don't fix your coffee issue (which, btw, how do THEY know you didn't tamper with them? Not...
