Been reloading my 300 WSM and I can get a number of rounds within 1.5 MOA, however the most accurate has been the 178 ELD-X. Those were well under 1 MOA.
You can read anything online and some people will crap on it, but in terms of accuracy they go like this:
TIER 1 (under 1 MOA)
178 ELD-X...
Do a little research, then buy one and roll with it. I'm a believer in good equipment, but often times, unless you live in the back country, you won't know the difference between a B+ pack and an A Pack.
Like drinking wine. Unless you're really into it, you won't know the difference between...
I've eaten them. My experience was they're lean, which is the opposite of a domestic pig. We added some pork fat to the sausage and they were delicious. My son shot a 275 pound boar about 2 weeks ago. Was strongly advised to deposit him in the coyote feeding area.
at the risk of being whiny, I'd love to see a guns only classifieds, and another for ammo and reloading supplies. Kinda sucks doing a search for a specific gun and getting all the brass and ammo options.
I know the Barnes 180 grains are deadly .Had a buddy kill a muley in 2022 with the hollowpoint version and I was able to dump a moose on the spot with the blue tips last fall.
I killed a muley with my 7RM 150 om the same bullet. It worked, but I don't think I got the expansion I would have with...
if you think your hook was excessive, you should see the 3/8" tapcon lags I used.
I spent too much time and effort to find out how a moose skull bounces.
Couple loops of garage door cable thru the back brain cavity, electrical taped together to keep from having loose ends. Then mine is hung on the stone chase for my chimney so I put a masonry lag in the stone and made sure it hung straight.
I've killed:
7RM- 150 gr TTSX
Antelope @ 200 yards- DRT
Mule Deer @ 370- broke the front shoulders and ended up putting 1 more in him when I got up to him
300 WSM- 180 gr TTSX-
58" Alaska Bull Moose @ 300 yards- he dropped, but I spined him so not a great data point. He tried to get up when we...
I had similar results with accubonds of different weights. I did pick up some ELD-X 178s that may be worth a try.
I got good results with a TTSX last year. Just wanted to try something non copper for this hunt
Thanks fellas. I have several loads shooting 1-1.5 moa. Maybe I have been reading too much online. But I see folks with tighter groups and, being self taught, I’m not sure if im
Missing something. All I wanna do is be able to kill an elk out to 500 yards. These loads seem capable. Just making...
I'm YT, Rokslide, and Internet taught on my reloading, and Ive done ok for hunting purposes, but have never found one of those rounds that shoots 1/2 MOA every time. Can someone walk me thru it? I'm in the process of finding a load for elk for this fall and enjoy the tinkering...
What I've done...

I also have ankles that are almost complete garbage. Higher boots and more support = not rolling an ankle on the way out. that'd take the fun out of things quickly for me
i'll just leave it. Gun shoots darn good for an off the shelf CVA Cascade. I thought people were getting stupid speeds in some places. But This is a varmint/deer/possible antelope gun. We'll let it ride
I reloaded an accurate round for my 243 Win and really like how it shoots both Bergers and Hornady SSTs in 95 or 100 grain (I can't remember exactly), but it puts them where I want them.
Shot them thru a chrono and I'm only getting like 2850 fps. Should I be getting more if it's hitting where I...
Licking Co is a darn good place to spend some time with a gun...
I made it a point to shoulder shoot the does as I was sick and tired of trailing them. My son bang flopped one and mind did the bull dozer for about 10 yards and died...
I was teaching my 11 year old to field dress the deer so I...
