I have a customized Winchester 70 with ceracoted barrel, timney trigger, mcmillan stock that has served me really well. I'd love to try to get into another one, preferably something with a carbon barrel. If anyone has something they're looking to move on, let me know.
Would like a light weight...
Nothing wrong with that. I'd just feel like I got the short end if I killed an animal that big and didn't have a part in getting it back out to where it needs to be. I have fond memories of being hunched over and hurting on the way out. Heck, mine was flat and thru a swamp, but I wouldn't give...
i let my guide lead the way, but grabbed and pulled wherever I could I don't get to do this all the time. No way I was gonna miss out on carrying 90#+ on my back if I had the choice. It sucked so bad it was awesome!
I'm jealous that you guys get to use the fun guns. We're straightwall here in Ohio.
I'll be using my JM stamped 444 Marlin, ported with a shortened barrel (Guide edition) and 260 Hornady soft points.
My kids will be using either the CVA Cascade 350 Legend, or the Bear Creek Ballistics 350...
I don't know about the Tikka mags, but i'll only shoot copper moving forward in the 350. Totally changed the terminal performance of the gun. We struggled with standard cup n core bullets. Copper got better penetration and killed them more efficiently than the other stuff.
That's correct. Didn't know if maybe the sheep had been re-opened by game & fish. But I feel for Tony. He knows sheep and had it taken from him thru no fault of his own.
I've gone on hunts with them. The only time I really had the chance to shoot with it on, I had time to peel it off and shot without it.
But I've tested at the range and it's fine
I used an expeditor last fall. I think it was right around $1000 for my euro antlers and all my meat. Remember the brain matter has to be removed coming home to cross the borders with canada and even state borders I believe.
my family killed 7 whitetails and a bull moose last year. I plan on an elk and at least as many deer this year as well. But we have a population issue and I have friends who don't hunt who eat the meat.
Go do it, if you don't need the meat, bless someone else with it.
I've got a buddy who's hunted this spot. Without giving away any inside knowledge, people most likely won't be the problem. It's public but we have an inside track to get in on the backside by crossing private that isn't open to the public. They've seen 1 other hunter there in the 1/2 dozen or...
Got my spot earmarked for this fall in CO.
I've hunted elk once, and some of my learning curve led me to having a lot of nature hikes, and probably wasn't tied up in looking for elk where I should have.
If I'm scrolling thru ON-X, what are some tips to look for e-scouting (I'm 1600 miles away)...
