Simms Guide Series simply cannot be beat. The moment I put them on I knew I’d never go back to another brand! As you said, they’re so comfortable that you forget you’re wearing waders. Plus, as I’ve learned from personal experience, their warranty is second to none. Enjoy those bad boys!

Purchased a Franchi Affinity 3.0 for this waterfowl season. Been using an 870 Express for well over a decade for all bird hunting so I was overdue. Got out today for the first hunt and I loved the gun. Very, very happy with the upgrade!

Has anybody here ever gone out for the 2nd season opener (11/12) for doves? If so, what’s your thoughts? I’ve always enjoyed the general opener on 9/1 (and the rest of that season) but never hunted the second season.
I’ll take any and all feedback you all want to give. Not even sure if the...
No sweat. I think OP May have been willing to entertain muffs but I was just curious if they had any in-ear options. I’ll do some research on the Amazon ones you sent.

Only have one season in them with some training hikes sprinkled in so can’t comment on longevity. That said, they’ve been incredibly comfortable from the moment I first put them. My feet are very wide so I didn’t have many options that would actually fit my foot. The Crispi’s were the ones that...
Took a 150gr CX out of an elk. It was shot out of a 7RM at 70yds. Almost exited on the other side but ended up barely caught in the hide. Great shot in the vitals that killed it pretty damn fast. Other than shedding its petals, which at that distance isn’t surprising, it did exactly what it was...
So, I’ll come at this from another angle that others touched on but didn’t really mention. When they say to prepare for rain, they’re really saying that you need to prepare for being wet. Even with the best rain gear, things (not just clothes) get wet. Do you have a shelter for a heater to dry...
Nice find. That looks like a great jacket for a little over 100 bucks. Been looking for something a little warmer so may invest in one.
Thanks for posting.

Very good point! I have always been diligent about ear protection while hunting and at the range. More than a couple of my hunting buddies try to “tough it out” without ear pro but are paying for that as we’re getting up there in years.
I appreciate everyone’s help here. Since I have a 7RM, my gut is leading me toward a 7mm-08. This will allow me to have only .284”bullets for loading. My workbench is fully ready to handload as soon as I can get primers…that’s whole other story. While everyone made some good arguments for other...
Looking to add another rifle to the safe. I have a 7mm REM Mag but want to add something that’s fun to shoot at the range and my nephews can use mule deer hunting with me. Since this isn’t my primary rifle, I’m not looking to break the bank.
Initially I was thinking Tikka T3x Lite in 6.5CM...
First and foremost, thank you to everyone who provided feedback. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to contribute.
Now for the good and bad. Good news is I was able to get my hands on the gun today at the local big box store. It shouldered great, swung beautifully, and generally felt...
Appreciate the feedback and the schooling on where the lead actually comes from! Will buy a pack tonight from Amazon to throw in the range bag.

I’ve been spending more and more time at the range lately. Most of the time I’m running errands on the way back since the wife has the kids. Since I can’t always wash my hands I typically just use a wet one but I saw an ad for these LeadOff wipes (https://hygenall.com/shooting-sports/) which...
I’m leaning very heavily toward purchasing a Franchi Affinity 3 in 12 gauge with Realtree Max-5. This will be primarily a waterfowl and dove gun with a turkey hunt sprinkled in every now and again. I’ve used a Remington 870 Express for decades but it’s time for an upgrade. I’m looking for...
