I think this is the best ram we found...now location unknown. He will go 180 plus net. Just hope we can find him.
Soooo frustrating but that's the way it goes...this is sheep hunt #7 for me and it will still be an adventure if we don't locate him when we re-start Sept 26th. He is the "left back"...
More photo attempts
Photos early August. Unit 11 Idaho. Don't know why they're uploading sideways?? These are the rams the aliens have abducted...why they left we don't know but hope to find them.
More attempts to post photos...mid-August to late August
Attempt(s) to post ram pics pre-season; zombie training pic post-hike w 55lb backpack-one of dozens; scenery pics. Will check tomorrow if successful uploads...
DWD
First week of season hot and 10-12 miles hiking per day. One 10.5 year-old ram w right horn broken 8-10" above hairline was best we could find. If he had the other side he would go 178-plus. Too bad, but good genetics to spread despite whatever broke the right horn...fall?...rutting?
Three 6x6...
IMO,
You'll need a flat-shooting tack-driver. I agree w/ some of the above comments...make sure you can get to the ram before you pull the trigger. Sheep aren't as tough to kill, it's true, as say elk or good God AK-Yuk moose, but the country can be treacherous when retrieving, so make sure you...
You've probably already done this but Google "Jack Atcheson, Jr Montana Unlimited" “Duncan Gilchrist” “kifaru forums” “outdoor life” "Eastman's Hunting Journal" and there's even a thread on Rokslide from 2014 about the MT Unlimited Units. The "Montana Outdoors Radio" website has a couple...

Looks 6 years old, no more than that looking at the annular rings on the left. Bases not filled out, and length maybe 32". Six years old max. Lower curl coming forward not below the jaw line. I wouldn't give this youngster a look for at least three more years. Hope you find...
FlyGuy,
Thanks for the positive comment! I've been reviewing my 2009 notes from the Imnaha River, Rhodes Ck, Lightning Ck, Cow Ck, Grizzly Ridge, Haas Ridge hunt areas and have a good basic idea of what gear works and what doesn't. My first memory is not to bring such a heavy rifle as I did in...
To the Rokslide Crew-
I've drawn the one random RMBS tag and now have it in hand. Amazingly, this will be my 7th sheep hunt since 2009.
I'd posted the questions earlier, about the maps, waiting until I had the actual license/tag in hand...after reading about/and experiencing the issues w/ the...
PNWGATOR-
I believe I will do that...my work keeps me busy so it may be erratic, and any suggestions as to what to include would be helpful to myself and readers....
Diddywahdiddy
I didn't get a refund, but on June 9th got a call that I'd drawn unit 11-13-18. It wasn't until July 7th that I actually received the tag in the mail. I really can't complain on the one-month confirmation "in hand" though. With the unit 11 odds being 0.28% and the genetics and limited # of tags...
I really like the answer from sheephunteralaska...but another option and opinion-Save up your money and do the Canadian route, especially the Yukon and NWT. Some I've hunted with noted below-
Dickson Family is topnotch...couldn't find a nicer multi-generational outfitting family; Mervyn's...
Back from work assignment. Thanks for everyone's input.
Spoke with the Idaho BLM office-got the Orofino, Grangeville, and Riggins maps and also some maps south to the NV border for looking at CA Bighorn country. Have rafted the Bruneau twice and Jarbridge once, and have seen CA Bighorns at Cove...
I'm off to another assignment, so will be "out of range" for at least 7-10 days. Thank you all for your information. I understand the raffle tag draw is sometime this week or next. The auction tag went for $130k last year and the prior auction tag went for $180k. No, I can't afford that.
I drew...
I thought this might get lost in a prior thread, so am starting a new thread. I have GPS and onXhunts, but if can't get cell service... and would like to study maps at home for future reference.
I have been trying to draw a sheep tag in Idaho. What is the best source...e.g. BLM, My Topo, etc...
I have been trying to draw a sheep tag in Idaho. What is the best source...e.g. BLM, My Topo, etc. for the most detailed map of Idaho Unit 11? I already know some of the outfitters...but don't want to bug them right now. I think I understand the unit was expanded to add unit 13/18...may be...
Pick The Boots That Fit
I've been away for a awhile, out on a work assignment that had some pretty high security on its internet. I'm a Flatlander, and have a pair of Kenetrek Mountain Extremes for over seven years now, used them in Hell's Canyon on the Oregon side for my (only one of two?)...
