Disclaimer: I didn't read most of the 7 pages here but felt like I needed to report my findings. I changed jobs in 2017 and went from 20 years of a company vehicle to driving my own. I bought a new 2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ, then traded for a 2019 Silverado Trail Boss, then a 2021 Trail Boss...
Didn't seem like a shortage at Brownells show room two weeks ago, and seems like the classifieds on several forums I visit have plenty of non-AR listings. I haven't been to a pawn shop or gun show for decades so I might be out of the loop.

Timely subject. I have a dual head mini split in my garage/office and love it for summer cooling and winter heating...until outside temps drop to single digits and below. The garage is completely spray foamed. I have a large stove from Davis for the wall tent that would cook me out but my...
I sold a Tikka M595 whitetail hunter in 22-250 with two extra 6 round mags about 25 years ago to fund a rebarrel of a Sako L461 to 17MachIV. The Tikka was an MOA gun and no better so I decided to sell and have regretted it ever since.
I can still feel the buttery smooth action and crisp...
True, what I meant is they weren't mainstream around here until about 5 years ago. Hell I didn't even know I could get one until about then, and I've shot on and off competitively since 1986.
Seen my first one at a PRS match in 2017.
It is a great reason but it wasn't an option until relatively recently, the damage is done for a lot of us. Gunfire was only part of my loss though, may years on open station tractors, rock concerts, firecrackers, cell phone in ear 10 hours a day before hands free?
Good thread, I too have lost...
Many thousands of coyotes and other critters have been shot with fixed parallax scopes. That might be the absolute last thing you need to worry about.
I'd focus on the fundamentals of marksmanship, and get as much trigger time as possible.

Absolutely despise people leaving their rig at the pump while going in to shop, have some f-ing courtesy. Don't care for the stupid pumps with TVs either, it's really come down to trying to advertise to you when you're held captive at the pump? I mute and cuss it and hope nobody is listening.
On a group coyote hunt in Arizona many years ago, one of the attendees put his loaded 222 into the back seat of his rental truck. The rifle was butt down and propped against the bench seat. His DIY trigger job must not have been safe as the rifle fired and blew a hole in the roof of the truck...
My brother went to SDSU in the mid 90's and caught a ton of walleye out of the Big Sioux and Lake Sinai. He took grandpa's 16' Crestliner v-bottom with 9.9 Johnson for the lake fishing. He used to razz me about having caught tons more walleye than I had, but that's changing now.
