Dtech uses Shilen barrels. I have found Shilen barrels to be very accurate but have an insanely short life because they are so soft. I haven't used a Shilen in the last 15 years so they may have changed but I doubt it.
Actually they developed the 277 because that is what the US Army contract called for. They do see the folly in it and plan to offer the case in 6.5 and 7mm in the future.
Oh damn. Since it's a 'new to you' gun you have to go through the paperwork, waiting period and pay the transfer/DROS fees. (n) Did you have to pay sales tax as well?

I haven't hunted deer in X8 for a long time but I do quail hunt there. Not uncommon to see zero deer in a weekend but unbelievable amounts of bear tracks in the dusty roads.
Make sure you have the action correctly over the recoil lug so it snaps back up into the slot in the receiver. If you can rock the action front-to-back before you tighten the screws you don't have it centered on the recoil lug and no matter how much torque you put on the screws it won't shoot...
Totally painless. It's an inline gizmo, plugs into the electrical outlet and the freezer plugs in to it. A temp probe/sensor goes inside the freezer.
