Saw something in the Gila on an elk hunt back in 2001. Been hunting my whole life and still can’t explain what it was. I’m not saying it was Bigfoot, I’m just saying I don’t have a clue what it was. I thought it was on 2 feet. Watched it run through an opening 15 yards wide only 60 yards away...
This makes sense to me. Only the slightly “mental” ones of us live for the backcountry hunts. I have withdraws when I’m not there, but I don’t think people really understand what it takes to get there and back and be successful. YouTube has made it seem oh so easy. It’s where the men/boys are...
I had my bow arm shoulder done 5 weeks ago. 2 Full thickness tears and the whole clavicle cut off thing for the bursa sac and the labrum tears fixed and had frozen shoulder. There’s no other way to say it besides it SUCKS!! I’ve always prided myself on my pain tolerance, but DAMN... surgeon...
Buy a good pack system for your hunt that can double as your summer hiking/camping pack. Then sell all your other packs you won’t use/need anymore. Just my $.02
I don’t roll em up all the way in or out.. find the happy medium.
They can be a pain in the ass, but if I’m on a long pack in/out, then yes I’ll use them. I hate extra strap hanging anywhere. Flopping around, getting wrapped up on shit... Maybe it’s my OCD... But it’s not a deal breaker. If I...
Seems like I read/heard somewhere that they were going to change the zipper pulls due to some failures with the rubber??? I could be wrong but I believe I heard that somewhere.
Call Exo if you want the real scoop.
The Quilt and the Tarptent were my biggest gains. Prior to the Tarptent I was running REI quarterdome that weighed quite a bit. Was a good tent but heavy. I also run a piece of tyvex for a footprint. Saves some weight, but looks like yours is pretty light. I went from somewhere in the ballpark...
I hate mummy bags with a passion. I was runny a BA system bag that was great but weighted 4.04lbs. I sleep warm and I’m a flopper. The 20 degree quilt fit my needs. I’m 6’1” 225 and the long/wide works well.
Generally I’m looking at Sept mountain temps of mid to low 20s at the most. More often...
