So if you trail him up and he’s still alive, gets up and runs and you shoot him, you didn’t “kill” him in the OTC unit. You killed him in the LE unit. I’m not saying I wouldn’t shoot him, I’m just saying what you’d be up against.
Duluth Flexpidition are pretty comfortable and breathable. Multiple dark colors.
The wrangler’s aren’t bad, but hotter than the Duluths and they fit me like skinny jeans so that’s not working.
Yeah, I’m no expert at calling in elk, but I can pull a muzzy hunter in from 1,000’ below or above all day!! I’m like their worst nightmare. Seriously probably call in 3-4 orange men every year. It’s what I excel at! I’m sure I’m locally hated!
Sometimes tents are blurry on OnX because of the resolution. If you see something questionable, go to GE. It’s clearer. Those little white squares stick out like a sore thumb once you get used to spotting them.
You can also find pack trains occasionally on trails. Follow the main trails to...
I would definitely have it checked out. Hopefully there’s no damage, especially this close to season. Newer bows are pretty tough. I’ve never had a string break but I did have a limb bust once. Not fun at all. Felt like a bomb went off in my hand. Did you by chance nick your string with a broad...
I have a Tarptent Moment DW, pretty small but I leave it in factory stuff and keep it in side stretch pocket on my Exo. Easier to just pull it out at dark and throw it up vs having a ‘yard sale’ every evening.
Personal preference. I don’t carry in Black Bear country. I hunt with guys who did their first few hunts but they have since abandoned it for weight reasons. But I know guys who carry during rifle seasons which seems odd to me.
I’ve skinned a few elk that had already had bears on the carcass...
I don’t even workout with my weighted pack without them. Once you get used to them, they are great for stability, shock absorption on legs, will actually make you faster at times. Just my .02
So, honest opinion…( I get the enjoyment of diy custom work. I’m the same way) is it worth the $30 savings over just buying the slurpy stalker and using the lid? How much total do you have in it after the Molle clips, etc? I like your build, but I can’t see where there’s much to gain.
I’ve done...
I would call Tarptent and ask them about your dilemma. They are pretty good in my experience about helping out. They have some excellent options as well
I’ll say this, we buy our employees Energizer headlamps 3-AAAs 400 lumens. They’re inexpensive, less than $20. Those things take a beating and keep on working. I use lighter ones when backpacking but for the money they are hard to beat. You could buy 2-3 for the price of one of the high end...
Excellent idea! I have been trying to figure out a solution for my K3 as I’ll not be going in very deep this year. Just want a light, slim day pack. I’ve got everything I need after reading through everyone’s post. I was just a little slow in realizing it!! Lol Thanks for the pics and ideas.
They love blowdown, predators can’t sneak up on them. I’ve seen full grown elk walk on top of log piles. Really unbelievable the first time you see it.
