This "might" be a partial reason. Minerals, salt, calcium chloride, etc... We have Mt. Goats on the Hope Road (sometimes) in years past a fair amount of them were hit and killed by the DOT snowplows, clearing the highway.
Here they come down and cross the Hope Road to the shore of Turnagain...
I think people on forums like his, when they reflect on this question, just naturally run it through the filter of "hunting". There are many places we hunted 50 years ago that later became National Parks, but I tend to not even remember them now.
Long ago I lived on (fifty mile long) Lake...
I have spent decades piloting small planes all over Alaska and "most" of or "much" of western Canada. That total land mass is likely close to the total land mass of all lower 48 states. And your description of wilderness (for you) would include over 95% of that area, maybe 98%. Just imagine if...
I used to ferry small single engine planes between Alaska and Western lower 48 states. If flying down the coast or inland, that describes far more then 99% of the wilderness.

Your "paying" for someone else to do most of the hunt "FOR YOU". It is "Not" a do it yourself hunt.
"IF" you were actually doing it yourself, you would save most of the $5,000.00
In addition to thwarting access to food, when this rain sets up a thick crust when the temperature drops, the wolves well have a near perfect running surface to run down big game.
Best that I do not do that. This thread has helped me understand why the things I have posted in the past upset people. Some get a fair bet more then simply upset, they get pissed.
WOW....A sad and depressing, yet "educational" thread for me. It has enlightened me as to how good I have it now, and for the last 65+ years of hunting.
This is a beautiful photograph......Beautiful. Not just the Goat, but the "Whole" majestic photo. Even without the Goat the rock colors and pattern are stunning. Congratulations on a beautiful Mt. Goat harvest.
