I can get 8-10 days out of 4 oz but I don't ever take my water to boil. Get it to the point where i see the little bubbles forming and call it good.
Good luck on the trip.
System looks pretty good but you could make some tweaks. I didn't see trekking poles and my guess is you'll use them as your shelter center pole. Also, drop down to a 4oz isobutane canister. Should be plenty for 2 boils a day x 6 days at altitude. I don't take extra batteries cause I put a fresh...
Yeah, VHT isn't worth a crap. Tbird is good stuff but the application process is a hassle.
I started using Krystal after sharing a campfire and talking shop with Chad Holm one year at a trad shoot in Colorado. He swore by it and so do I.

What kind of finish are you thinking of using? I would try to steer you away from using something like a spray poly. If you do want to go the rattle can route, I'd look into VHT clear coat for vehicle rims. It's not going to give you the same quality as Thunderbird or Krystal (my preference) but...
Looks good. It's a learning experience that more people should do. That way they can understand why we custom bowyers charge what we do. I'd like to tell you that glue ups get easier the more you do them. Yeah, thats's not the case. You just get faster.
Another great resource for how to's is...
If you don't want to add cordage to the loops then give your stakes a twist and double up the loop around the stake. Pretty sure SO had a video explaining this at one time.
Seek just came out with a new version of the highly popular DST made of DCF. At roughly 8.5’x10’ and 10.6oz this new tarp is going to be hard to beat in the ultralight backcountry shelter department. I’ve got a couple nights under one and so far I am really impressed. No more wind pushing in the...
I'm part of the single door crowd. I had a Silvertip that had the double doors and never used the one. When I ordered my Cimarron I opted for single and actually prefer it. Not only for the weight savings but for the stove jack location. It's a better spot for two because everyone has an equal...
Update: I picked one up. With the sales going on I couldn't resist. If I don't like it I'm sure I can get my money back on the classified forum. My guess is that it absolutely won't carry as good as my full size frame but will be so much nicer as a smaller package while up in a tree. Only time...
I like to flip my pipe so it's more even but I don't think it huts anything being lopsided. Unless you like permanent blue finger prints all over the stove you should wipe it down with some mineral spirits.
I should preface and say that I have a serious load hauling pack that I use on western backpacking hunts. It does its intended job well, but is just too bulky while up in a tree. I've gone back and forth between the Pop Up 38 and the Shape Charge. The lack of any real load hauling ability with...
Doesn't seem like a lot of mention about the Pop Up 38 when it comes to people talking about a do it all white tail pack. It seems like the perfect idea for carrying tree stands and sticks in and quarters out. With the Black Friday sales I'm thinking of picking one up. For those that have one...
I did have one customer bend a pole but they had left it up for 3 weeks in which they had severe ice storms and finally a blizzard that dumped 10-12” of heavy wet snow. If you don’t need compact ability I’d suggest using a fiberglass pole like a pole vaulter uses.
All my tents had nomex rubber...
