Yes I am, 20” 8 twist Bartlien and it likes the factory 80 grain eldx. It shoots under 1 MOA if I do my part. I have only shot two different lots of ammo but I haven’t been able to see the difference between lots.
ETA: chambered for saami spec
So far the 80 grain eldx in the 22 creedmoor is 3 for 3 this year. All Wisconsin doe at 75, 288, and 305 yards. The picture is of the doe at 305 yards with the entry into the rib cage after going through the shoulder. Hard quartering to shot and I found the bullet in the liver. None of them went...
That’s a Bartlien 8” twist finished at 20”.
I also ordered some UM 80eldm which also shoots very well and I get almost another 200 FPS. Obviously the hornady offerings are much more cost effective but the extra speed is intriguing. Do you think the factory 80 grain eldx is a better route for...
Here is a 20 shot group from this weekend with factory Hornady 80grain eldx. Another case is in route and will be ready for the Wisconsin whitetail opener.
I just got back from a 5 day hunt (no cell service for 7 days) and it seemed reliable enough for me. I never turned my InReach on the whole trip but had it with for peace of mind. I would agree the battery gets drained quicker, but I had solar and was able to charge every night.
I use both as well but prefer AR for night time and bolt for daytime. You will definitely use more ammo with the AR but I can’t say it is more effective 😂
Shot another 20 rounds today. Same lot of ammo and similar velocities but no pressure signs. This may be the most accurate rifle I have owned. Pretty excited to put some animals down.
Just finished shooting a little this morning with a new 22 Creed build. So far it is looking promising, but I only have 20 rounds down the barrel. 20" Bartlein barrel on a tikka action and I am averaging close to 3100 with factory 80 grain ELDX. One 5 shot group.
I am in the camp that age class and habitat are the leading factors in producing high scoring animals. This is why I think antler size and limited tag numbers in most limited entry units is a direct correlation.
