I don’t take Lee’s comment that way. If they don’t want to chamber in .280 AI, that is their decision as much of a bummer as it may be. I also think it is a valid assertion that a true custom shop could accommodate that request. What’s most interesting to me is the comment about burning barrels...
California G6 Kern River
This was a late season rut/migration hunt. The migration was late this year so the herd never showed up, but got it done nevertheless on day 7 of 9. One of my more memorable hunts to be sure.
I have a Sauer 200 in .270, it is one of the most accurate rifles that I own. This is a great buy for someone. I wish you were selling just the synthetic stock, I would love to have that as an option for mine!
I do think that the vertical grip on the 307 Alpine CT is a deal breaker for me, unfortunately. It just does not appeal to me. So I still find myself stuck between the Ridgeline FFT and the Backcountry Guide. Ultimately I should probably just get one of each. I’ve also found myself wondering...
I appreciate the insight! The Springfield was never really on my radar. It does seem that the issues with the Christensens have mostly been sorted out in recent years.
That’s good feedback. I have been shooting sporter style rifles my whole life so that is my default go to. I would really like to spend some time behind one of the “modern” style stocks before committing to it. I’m just not convinced that it would be as versatile as I would like in a hunting rifle.
Right, the vertical grip stock and the 700 style action versus a Weatherby action. I wonder why it is so much less expensive to produce? They seem very similar other than those two notable differences.
How would you compare/contrast the Alpine CT with the Backcountry Guide? They seem like a generally similar product but I assume they have slightly different applications?
Dang, I’m sorry to hear that. Honestly the main reason I had Fierce on the list was because of the barrel length. It seems like they have more frustrated customers than anyone. I’d love to at least get my hands on a Weatherby so that I can make a more educated choice. I do like the way the...
Thanks for the well thought out response! I hope to have the opportunity to at least accompany a friend there someday. I burned up all of my 16 points this year as I mentioned earlier, but who knows what will happen down the road. Ideally I have at least another 30-35 good years of hunting left...
That’s awesome, looks like you had a great hunt! I tried to draw Goodale for years and gave up due to point creep. Wound up hunting G6 this year instead. I’m glad to hear you guys shot a few good bucks! I would echo the same question regarding the health of the herd. I have heard that it isn’t...
