300 win mag, what grain do you shoot?

Not my weapon of choice anymore since I got a lightweight, but when I used it I was running the TTSX 165 with good success.

Sleep system sliding in the night.

I like the bathtub floors. I am usually up against the pole on side and I put my boots on the other side of me. Always nice and tidy. The bathtub will keep you from creeping all over the place and getting your bag on the tent wall.

How do you get dressed....in your tent?

Don't discount the tall center pole mids or the 2 pole setups. put a nest in these and you have the best of both. nice room to sit up and cook. My lightweight is the Six Moons Lunar Solo. Set it up as high as you can. The vesti is good enough to have all my stuff in reverse order. Put the door...

    Cervical spine fusion/backpack hunting

I forgot about this thread, but I can add some additional insight. So I had the successful C5-C7 done in 06. In the last year I have developed some permanent numbness in my right arm. I can numb my arm out by just tipping my head or turning to the right. The neuro I went to see said it is my C8...

    Hunting Vehicle Category

I know this may be foil hat comment but... i said no because i think it could turn into a trolling expedition by marketers to try to sell us stuff. that would just increase the crap that moderators try to get rid of. a rig is simply a tool that we all use to get to the woods.

    Custom Home - Must Haves?

Insulate all the interior walls Don't have a toilet on an adjoining wall to your living space. nothing cooler than hearing "energize" or even worse listening to a guy take a piss through the wall. don't be bashful with the smurf tubes in the TV rooms. I know many things are wireless now, but...

    which chainsaw?

STHIL 021 16" I take it apart and drop it in a 5 gallon bucket along with the chains, tools and oil. Quick and clean to pack. ethanol free gas only or any saw is crap in a year. use the right fuel, go outside once a month and fire it up for a minute or 2 and your good for years of service.

Time for a member re-introduction! Where are you from+a fun fact about yourself.

I have lived in Molalla, OR for 47 of my 51 years. I have now moved to Apollo Beach, FL for a new job. I really hope I don’t regret it. I miss the mountains already. My fun fact that people find hilarious: I have eaten off of the same plastic Marvin Martian plate for the last 30 years. I also...

    Bill/Issue: U.S. HR 127 - Gun licensing, Registration & Partial Ammo Ban

I informed them how far off base they are, and they would be turning law abiding people like me into criminals. In addition to the crap and compromise idea, I am afraid they use these tactics to data mine responsible gun owners like me so we are easier to find later. As if I don't have an FBI...

your absolute, bare to the bones sleep system?

Six Moons Gatewood Cape and net tent. I have a old moonstone bag that is super light and compact. If I know I am roughing it, I will try to tough it out with a non insulated exped 5 class. hiked in and fishing with a pack on my back on this trip, but this is the setup. This setup will take snow...

    Bear Paw Wilderness Designs

I just got a BPW 1/4 hex net tent to go inside my Silvertip. I have only set it up in the yard. It seams to fit nice. All the finish I looked at seemed fine. The cool surprise for me was the pole pocket on the top in addition to the line loc to hang it with. Nicely done with line locs on all the...

    Diesel or Gas

I have not owned a gas truck since 2003. The last gas truck I had was the ford V10. I liked the way it ran, but people need to understand that a ford V10 is 10 little pop can sized pistons and it needs to spin pretty high to get in the power. I bought one of the first 6.0 fords when they first...

    Tibet GTX vs Camino?

I have used the Tibets for about 8 years and the stiff soles really agree with me. I wanted to try a slightly more flexible boot for summer conditioning and improved comfort. I have the Tibets in 12W and they are a little tight in the forefoot for me. I read a number of comments where the...

    Oregon Fires

I am in Molalla. It is amazing to think one more day of hard east wind could have wiped out 4 small towns including mine. This video is my house at 8:30AM. It was like this for about 2 days. Pretty creepy experience. Nice to be able to pack up all of my hunting food stash in a hurry and we could...

    Anyone Go Through Back Surgery?

I had a fusion on C5 to C7 in 2006. Stiffness and lack of mobility, but well worth it. As others have said, the issue is the adjoining areas. I now have issues at C8 where my right arm is heavy numb all the time. I havent started losing strength yet, but is is just a matter of time. the issue I...
