Is this observation you make limited specifically to large frame ARs? What are some factors that you feel contribute to this? I'm by no means an expert, but I've built a couple AR-15s, and they've both been extremely accurate, shooting just a touch under MOA groups consistently. I've always...
I really think this is where the AR style rifles shine. I built my son an AR chambered in 6.8SPC for his first hunting rifle. The carbine stock is great for small kids and has some growth built in. The recoil is very minimal, and some of the chamberings such as 6.5 Grendel or 6.8SPC or 6mm ARC...
I’ve struggled with high blood pressure for years. I can keep it in normal range if I eat clean, low sodium, and work out daily. If I have more than a cup of tea in the morning my BP starts becoming elevated. I still have the addiction so decaf really helps.
You guys pounding the caffeine in...
Really should start with at least narrowing down a general area you plan to focus your hunting efforts. Colorado is a big state and it can take hours to get from point A to point B. For example, I live on the Front Range, and I’ve got some spots in the San Juan’s that take me about 8 hours...
I put my Savage LWH in a Bell and Carlson stick with full bedding block. I am a fan of Savages, everyone I own shoots lights out accurate and they’ve never let me down in any way. I would not hesitate to buy another one

I’m a minimalist shoe guy, so my experience is probably not the norm. But if you are already acclimated to that style of footwear, I’d suggest the Vivo Trackers. I’ve not had any issues with the eyelets digging in. That could be caused by cinching the laces down real tight, but in my opinion...
Cool to see them finally available. They announced this at last years SHOT show but didn’t release it last year. When they announced it last year, I wasn’t thinking anything about AR’s being outlawed, I just figured they wanted to take advantage of the popularity of PRS and the whiz bang chassis...
I have a soft spot for ARs from my time in the Army. I was looking at putting together an AR-10 as well, but decided on a 6mm ARC in AR-15 platform. Weight was really the deciding factor. Most of my elk hunting is done with my bow, and I will still use my WSM for cow tags. But deer and antelope...
I’m an SUV guy but before I bought my 4Runner, I was about to pull the trigger on a full size pickup. I wanted to put a Gofast camper on it, but then saw the wait list they had and the price! Those pop up camper shells would be the ticket for a hunting rig!

I use the Vellus for late season stuff, I have had mine for maybe five or more years and it’s been great. It’s great for super cold rabbit hunting in Colorado, and I use it often when whitetail hunting in CO and Nebraska. With merino base layers, a fleece mid, and the Vellus, it will keep you...
Keep in mind some of the high mountain passes (ie. on the north side of that wilderness) will be closed, usually into May. April and May is typically not a fun time to be in the high country unless you are snowmobiling, snow shoeing or cross country skiing :-P
The local Scheels used gun rack is always loaded with used CA rifles. I don’t really have an opinion on them as I’ve never owned one though.

I went to jump school in the late 90s, just before they adopted the newer T-11. All my jumps in the Army were with a t-10. The idea of jumping a T-10 now at 47, makes my knees hurt! I don’t think people realize how hard you hit the ground with those old air resistance parachutes! Airborne...
I was actually toying with the idea of a higher end pellet gun pistol for grouse while archery elk hunting. I too am tired of busting arrows on grouse. I shoot a Prime Black 5, 70# at 29”. I’ve used judos, old broadheads, blunts. Damn near every single arrow I’ve ever loosed on a grouse has...
No way that thing if finding a deer better than a good tracking dog. The videos on their website aren’t all that impressive really. He had to wait to fly it at night because he was getting heat signatures off the radiant heat on vegetation. The deer they do show were out in open fields. If you...
USPS just dropped off my package this morning. Upon initial look, it appears like a brand new scope, doesn’t have ring marks or any signs that it wasn’t brand new. Might not be able to wait to mount it on the rifle I’m building that it was intended for, so might have to put it on a different one...
I’m in the middle of piecing together a 6mm ARC for a lightweight deer and antelope gun. Not sure I’d change my mind had I known about this but maybe LOL. It would be really cool if the platform takes off and people make barrels for it. Imagine being able to have a 7-08 in a 7 lbs AR? Or perhaps...
Wow,I’m glad this works now. I had subscribed to Onx Off-road also, just because it has always worked with CarPlay. It was a pain in the butt syncing over waypoints and stuff.

The Savage 110/10 action is a good action. It’s not “buttery smooth” as some people say, but it works well and is inherently accurate. Most of the bad reviews I see on Savages relate to their cheap and flexible stocks. I’ve not got much experience with the AccuStock though. I know the 2 Savage...
