I'm curious, what specific feature or benefit are you gaining by accessing 3D maps in the field? For myself, I find the satellite hybrid view to be easiest, since I can easily read terrain lines from the hybrid overlay, but still correlate visual queues from satellite imagery. I'm just curious...
Wonder just how far in and away from trails this truly was? It has surprised me to see guys here in CO setting up camps right off a busy hiking trail. I'm not saying that shifts the blame or anything, it still takes a shitty person to steal from someone else. But, I have always made sure to...
I just shot a mature Shiras cow here in Colorado with the 143gr ELDX. The shot was 140 yards, she took 3 steps and dropped dead. I was really happy with how it performed. I’ve shot 2 elk with the same factory Precision Hunter loads and both of those elk dropped right there. How much different...
Hey guys, I'm looking at putting together a solo DIY trip to Kodiak in the next year or so, just wondering if anyone'd done this before? One thought I had was to book one of the Forest Service cabins that are near or on a lake and fly into one of those? Just seeing if anyone out there's...
Took a mature Shiras moose here in Colorado earlier this week with my Savage LWH. Shot was 140 yards with Hornady Precision Hunter 143 ELDX. She took 3 steps and fell over.

Thanks, it was 6.5CM and 143 ELDX. I know that’s on the low end of the spectrum of “moose cartridges” but it performed great. She took 3 steps and fell dead. I’ve taken 2 elk with the same rifle, both of them dropped immediately as well.

CPW takes a tooth and they will let me know precise age from the biologist in a few weeks. She was definitely a big mature cow

My son and I have killed a lot of deer and antelope with a little 6.8 SPC I built him for his first hunting rifle. It’s probably 6.5 lbs, small, easy to pack around, and that little 6.8 round does great on deer size game.
I put together a 6 ARC a couple years ago, it’s not lightweight but it is...
I drew a cow tag this year in a unit that I've spent a lot of time hunting other things (and always saw moose in there). I had to work the first 4 days of the season, so I was a little bummed about that. I got up to my unit on the afternoon of the 4th day, and the first area I went into looked...
You don’t need a freeze dryer, those things are thousands of dollars. I have a 10 tray unit from Cabelas, it cost me less than $150 if I remember, and I have used for it the last 5 years or so with no issues at all

…” form drop tested”. Are you saying this specific scope has been dropped, or that form did a test on this particular make/model?

Was up deep in the Black Hills on the Wyoming side this past week, and ran across an antelope skull deep in the forest. It was down by a creek in some really thick cover. I'd say I was a minimum of 10-15 miles from the nearest spot I've ever seen an antelope, and probably 30 miles or more from...
I’ve built a couple of ARs that are super accurate. I agree with others Barrel/bolt and trigger are top priority. I put together a 6mm ARC last year with an Aero Precision receiver set, Compass Lake bartlein barrel, JP enterprise bcg, trigger tech diamond trigger. On the bench at 100yards it’ll...
Try and find a high alpine basin in a wilderness that doesn’t have a marked trail, there’s a few of them left. You will probably still see someone but the non-hunting traffic thins out fast when you get well off of marked trails.
