As most of you know, driving a 3/4 around in the mountains is not a lot of fun. I use my 1500 as a daily driver and mountain rig. I haul my enclosed trailer a couple hundred miles to hunting camp then leave it. With the exception of a trip to another state every couple years, most of the use is...
I currently pull my 7x14 with a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. I'm considering moving to a Tacoma size pick up. I'm concerned about power issues going up steep grades. The trailer won't be fully loaded, mostly hunting gear for a week, including wall tent.
I also have a 2500 Duramax for really heavy loads.
That's a good point John. I can see where it could be necessary to tear out the culverts, but leave the majority of the road in place. It will reclaim it's self at no cost.
It's a huge waste of money in my opinion. I'm all for closing down old logging roads, but there are more economical ways to do it. Add a gate, or boulders, heck even tear out the first 100 yards of the road. Why spend the money to tear out 2 mile of road, when the access can be eliminated with a...
I bought a SS used about 30 yrs ago that only came with the LR cylinder. Several years later I purchased a used mag cylinder, I don't know remember where from. I've shot that cylinder several hundred times with no issues and it's just as accurate as the original LR cylinder.
I just don't see the attraction to the 6.8 Western. Ammo availability is iffy, and bullet choices are limited. Stick with a 7mm or 6.5. The 6.8W offers nothing over the 6.5 PRC or 280AI.
We arrived home Thursday from our 5 day trip in Idaho. Weather conditions were less than ideal, but huntable. We saw a total of one bear. The last few years we have left on the last Friday of April and have had lots of success. Last year we got three bears in 4 days. The green up was way...
We rode the Lolo Motorway a couple of years ago in our SxS. Along the way there were markers where the original trail was believed to be. It was very faint, and not maintained. I would recommend the trip.
That's impressive, in a bad way!
We're headed to the same place at the same time of year this weekend. Low altitude area that is typically snowless this time of year. will be interesting to compare the greenup from previous years.
I had three 260s, then eventually went 6.5 CM. Non of my 260s had a fast twist barrel.
If I was in your situation, I would go 6.5x284. Basically the same ballistics as the 260AI without the fire forming.
