Thermal solution for existing red dot??

I have hands-on with the AGM Rattler. Decent product. Street price around $2600. Rail or objective mount. Can be mounted to and zeroed on multiple guns by adjusting associated x/y coordinates. Zero to yours, remove quick connect, carry clip on in glove box. Toss it on and shoot when...

    Rich Man's Sport

$40 gets me hunting access to over a million acres of public land in Texas. Are there rules? Yes. Is it easy to hunt? Not always. Can I take my sons and create memories? You bet. So, then, Is it worth it? Heck yeah!

Roseburg OR, What do I need to know?

It’ll be thick unless it’s newly cut. There will be a lot of vertical. Wear light boots and get in a lot of hill work before you go. Roseburg is a nice town. Have fun.

Quietest Deer Caliber, Rifle, Suppressor Combo

With respect to rifle bullets, you are generally correct. Moving to subsonic, with a large reduction in velocity, reduces effective range.

Quietest Deer Caliber, Rifle, Suppressor Combo

Subsonic bullets all travel at about the same speed, regardless of caliber. The key is effective energy transfer at the target. I’ve found that if you can find a recipe that is consistent in velocity and ballistic coefficient, you can map subtensions to extreme ranges. At that point you need...

Quietest Deer Caliber, Rifle, Suppressor Combo

The real diff between .300 BLK and .308 subsonic is consistency. It’s hard to get as consistent results with .308 because of the case capacity. In my experience, there is more stringing with .308.

    Wall tent recommendations

3 with the stove. 4 without. In our case 2 guys with cabinets for gear storage, locking food storage (no bears in this part of Texas,) and a seating area inside. We use the extended fly with astroturf for a kitchen and sitting area in nicer weather. We also cheat and use Titan XXL cots with...

    Wall tent recommendations

12x14 canvas with internal frame and Yukon stove from Wall Tent Shop. Some would say name brand is better, but I had mine up for 2 years straight in the Texas Hill Country with no issues. Put it back up again this year. Cold, wind, rain, snow, incredibly intense sun and heat, and it's still...

    Cooper Tires

The shop might’ve gotten a couple ounces of soapy water in them when remounting the tires at some point. It’s impossible to balance a tire with a bit of water in it.

    Keep hunting?

I think a lot depends on how you were raised. If I make a good shot and can’t recover the animal despite my best effort, I consider it lost. That’s unfortunate, but on me. I’ll keep hunting only if I have another tag. I have spent a couple of days tracking a wounded animal before. More than...
