That's a fair answer, and a great line up of scope suggestions. I'm a FFP MRAD guy but for my high country build I compromised and mounted a SHV 3-10 MOAR reticle with parallax. It's such a phenomenal feature set and power range. I wish it was at least in mrad though
This post is a shoutout for TBone Shipwrighting in Australia, I am not connected with them in anyway but just impressed with their work.
Late last year I had a 6cm built on a Howa 1500 SA. First range trip out every shot punched holes straight through my LR primers due to slop around the firing...
I assume the t3x ctr was chambered in a 6.5cm/308 family? If so, just a "LA" bolt stop, switch the CTR stock to a standard T3x stock which will allow you to use a factory "LA" magazine and then get your action rebarrelled.
Anything with a chemical waterproofing agent I wash in just water. Everything else just whatever the missus buys. Scent control is the wind, as mentioned above.
I very much regret only buying 10x42s when I purchased binos. For people like myself that prefers to sit still more than walk when hunting, the 15x would have been perfect. Much prefer this over a spotting scope.
Second this. I love my 10x SS but the reticle is not a highlight.
Personally I like the NF MIL XT and MILC. I can't seem to find much affection towards the MILR.
If it's any help to you. I just had a Howa 1500 6cm built with a 22" IBI Med Hunter Profile. .120FB to run the 112gr Match Burner.
Fireforming 6cmLRP ADG Brass, I'm right on 2846fps with 39.0gr of AR2209 and REM 7 1/2 Primers. Groups were excellent. I have no regrets about going to 22".
My first question is, what's your impact velocity at 500yds with the 87gr Vmax? That will be the deciding factor. If it's >1800fps then you are good to go. I've killed a lot of deer with the 75gr Amax/ELDM in a 223rem, right down to 1800fps. I don't think you will have any trouble with 87gr Vmax...
I've just purchased a Stockys CF Hunter for a Howa 1500 SA here in Australia. I have an IBI Med Hunter barrel fitted to the rifle which is slightly larger in diameter than a factory sporter profile. It looks like I'll need to remove about 3mm from the barrel channel to make it fit. Looking for...
How much did you have to sand back? I need to do the same for a Stockys CF Hunter on a Howa SA with an IBI Med Hunter barrel. I'm worried I'll break through the material, it needs approximately 1/8th removed.
