We had a fun little trip out to Montana this year. My dad and I drew tags and my nephew still qualified for the youth sponsor hunt. My brother was not successful in the draw but I got him registered for the alternate list and he started out with number 314. We wore out the FWP webpage...
X3 on the tomahawk suggestion. I do that with my white-tails even. It is a ton of extra work but I love pulling that roast off the grill and slicing them into mini-tomahawks. Sad I can only get two of them off a deer.
My deer stand for white tails is about 200 yards from my front door. I bear hunt 1/2 mile north of the house. Leave out the back door to start walking trails for grouse and I goose hunt the neighbor's farm if they've planted something that year to draw geese. I shoot coyotes out of my livingroom...
I was dating a girl who hadn't grown up around hunting when I shot my first bear. Decided to make a meal for her out of it. Tried to find a recipe with good flavor in case it was a little strong. She was sitting at the table when I dished it up. Looked like she was going to throw up or pass out...
They can regulate the wildlife management with seasons and quotas, the arbitrary wilderness designation costing NRs more has nothing to do with wildlife management. It is, as has been said, corporate welfare.
I grew up in Wisconsin where I hunted, fished and (most important to me) trapped...
I think I've told this story on here before already. My first year of deer hunting in Wisconsin. About midday, I make my way over to the ridge where my dad was sitting. He reclines back on an uprooted big old aspen tree. The 45 degree angle where it got hung up is perfect for his mid-day nap...
All my mule deer hunting experience is in extreme northeast Montana. The ranchers who allow us to hunt their property are sticklers about not getting out too early. They prefer the sun to be up before we head out to glass. So I would say an hour or two after sunrise.
We do also catch a fair...
"According to the report, the victim died from multiple chop wounds." Yeah, I can see how that would look like a bear attack. If I stumbled upon that in a tent in the woods. 1) I would think bear. 2) I wouldn't do enough of a personal investigation to think something other than a bear.
Scary...
I disagree a bit. Even the link you posted about the state of the law in Nevada has a 2-part test. The second part being "and you reasonably believe the intruder intends to commit violence." I would want to make sure I had more to stand on than theft of my property. As you said in a...
You can ask for people's opinion or get offended by it-not both.
Maverick made a pretty good point. What is a great experience for one person might not be for another...or for you. I posted on a hunt that I was excited about taking with my father. Someone commented that the area we were...
Enjoy! I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I don't have any kids but am trying to enjoy as much time with my dad as I still can. No way he could do any fly-in, hardcore, backcountry hunts. So I go on the easier hunts so I can share them with my dad. We are headed out to eastern Montana this...
