    7mm mag Elk load

From what I have tested, I got much better velocity with the H1000 than the Retumbo with my Berger 168s. I think it may be due to Retumbo being a bit too slow? H1000 seems to be that "just right" cup of porridge for that bullet outta my barrel.

Which company has the best base layers

Regardless of brand the only worthwhile baselayer for most of my high country use is merino wool. Hard for me to even consider anything else. I’ve liked and tried merino from Sitka, First Lite, Kuiu, as well as Kings. First like and kings were most comfortable to me personally, I found the kuiu...

    Load Development 7 Mag

Before I was able to get some eldx I had a load developed with 175 gr sierra mks cause that’s all I could find and with 62 gr h4831 and was shooting 2811 which was better speed wise than I was expecting. I just switched to the Eldx for a better hunting round and it does not like that powder...

    7mm load data

Lucky man, found the pot of gold. Just about any powder is tough to come by these days.

    Load Development 7 Mag

Thank you for your input man, I have seen the Hodgdon load data and it showed very similar suggestions to the Hornady Manual that I have. H4831 seems like it is not the ideal powder but it is what I currently have. Hopefully things will start to slowly get easier with availability. Valuable...

    Load Development 7 Mag

Hey Rob, my ultimate goal was for sure H1000 or Retumbo but I can't seem to find any. Besides gougers on gunbroker and local ad lists. A bit steep for a newly married college kid haha but I will keep searching. For now just shooting what I got and need to get rounds down range and experience...

    Load Development 7 Mag

Thank you! I'm planning to load some up this weekend and go shoot a few. I have been reading a ton of manuals online as well as physical books from several manufacturers and could never find any consistent information.

    What hunt doesn’t interest you?

Absolutely zero interest in hunting Africa, I have no idea how or why people think it is so cool to show off something they shot in Africa... Like nice bro how much did that one cost you? Idk, just seems very canned and not a very involved or demanding kind of hunt. For those people who like it...

Anyone using Hornady ELD Match for LR hunting?

Dang! I had a box of 147 ELDM but planned on getting some Berger 156 instead. That's making me reconsider...

Anyone using Hornady ELD Match for LR hunting?

They also have a 162 eldx I believe, which may have been confused with that 168 eldm like you mentioned

    Load Development 7 Mag

I am shooting a Christensen Mesa Long Range in 7 mag with a 26" barrel 1-9" twist. Any chance someone with access to quickload could help me out with a starting point? Or just any rough suggestions for an archer that is out of his element haha. I plan to use H4831 and 175 gr ELDX although bullet...

    Upgrade or replace 7mm mag

No need to change from the 7 Mag cartridge imo. A new platform to start would suit you better like others have said. As for the cartridge 7 mag will do just about anything.

    Changing arrows for elk

I’ll add to the crowd, foc is necessary but highly over focused on. The difference you would find with all the hassle would again be negligible.
