Smell elk
Smells like a sour barn yard in my opinion. At least that the only way I can describe it. Typically if I smell them without seeing the beds, wallows, Piss, rubs…they are reasonably close. If your seeing beds, wallows, piss, rubs…..and it smells it’s typically pretty dry weather and it could be... -

Thanks! Very helpful. I also use hornady brass, and ive been using the federal 215 m primers. All information is helpful as this is my first 300. Been a 7mm rem mag guy forever. Finally traded one in for a rifle purely for elk/moose. -
Top two mountain cartridges
Under 400 leaves you many options. This is my recommendation. Might consider Tikka as they make some extremely light & smooth action rifles. But brownings are also great rifles. Just my opinion. Moose/elk - 7mm Rem Mag & 160g partition. Deer/antelope - 6.5 CM & Barnes TTSX whatever grain... -

Just bought Christensen Arms 300 mesa win mag, and in the same boat. This is what I’ve found for a solid accurate hunting round. 180g Barnes TTSX maybe tougher to find but pretty available, or 180g hammer bullets are badass and almost always in stock.
