We glass find a deer in a killable place then make a stock. If they aren’t in a place you can efficiently make a stock it isn’t worth blowing them out unless you are in a high pressure area. With that being said last year I was trying to get closer to a deer I spotted first thing and I...
I’ve never shot anything but my old wrist release. I do punch it. I’m trying to get over that. What would make a thumb release less likely to punch? More concentration to make the shot?
Anyone else get caffeine shakes ? Morning coffee makes it difficult for me to shoot A rifle. My bow is noticeable but I seem to be able to shake my arrow towards where I’m aiming. A rifle I can’t keep steady well at all.
I’ve been extremely happy with severs. Two deer with less then desirable shots went less then 50 yards. I know iron wills are popular and work great for a lot people I had a bad experience. I like getting a lot of blood. Sevr does that.
Unless you’re stuck on razor clams there are bay clams in Tillamook and netarts that don’t dig away from you. Steamers in netarts are excellent and extremely easy to get. Pm me if you want any details lived here my whole life be happy to help.
I chose harvest right they have been around the longest. I can’t complain I’m right about a year and it runs a lot. I dehydrated for a lot of years exactly as you say some things work others don’t. I specialized in chicken rocks that rehydrated as chicken rocks. If my freeze dryer broke...
Thank you for the info. The more I read and research the more I’m getting excited for this hunt! I’m not to concerned about the rut seems like they would be easier to make stocks on if they hold still longer. I will definitely take the whole season off. As long as I’m seeing deer I would...
I get the forum is running rabid especially on the elk side on people wanting unit specific information. Just trying to clarify, the most valuable information to me is strategy to hunt deer with a bow at a time of year I have not. Or tips on what to expect weather wise. I’m assuming it’s too...
I have had zero luck getting nice bucks on camera. Last year I put three cameras out in an area I’ve seen a nice buck, zero buck pictures hahahaha. Luckily I at least got to look at elk bear and bobcats
on a week long back country hunt what are you craving when you get out the woods? I’d start there! I want to do legit burger patties. Tacos have been a staple for us. I freeze dry home made salsa , guacamole, beans, then steak or ground beef. Also cheese, sour cream every that sounds good...
That is my concern exactly! On the Oregon coast 0 isn’t a thing hahaha. I may just take my gasser so I don’t have to worry about my fuel gelling up. Is there any tuning issues to be aware of with your bow in cold temperatures? I guess I’m a fair weather archery hunter. I’ve only had to deal...
Very warm clothing as stated. The wind can be brutal and pretty much null longer shots. I would suggest lots of back up plans too don’t expect to be the only one around.
Thanks for the info. Rifle hunting the rut in Montana makes me feel like it could prove challenging to make stocks considering how much bucks move. I really don’t know how it would go in snow either. I’ve only made stocks on deer in socks. That would prove very cold I’m fairly sure.
This year was my first putting in for New Mexico. Mainly went for elk but since I bought a license I put in for deer as well basically shooting the moon going for low odds not particularly wanting a tag. I drew an archery tag for January. I’ve only hunted mule deer archery in Nevada early...
