My daughter just bought her first rifle. She has been using her mother's m700 270. She picked the Camilla in 6.5 Creedmoor. Loves it. -

Good points. Don't forget your neck and head! If my neck gets cold,it's all over. Before we had all the good gear of today,I was married to turtle neck sweaters. Some long enough to roll up over my chin. Today we have lots of options for the neck. -

The Burris Sigs must be OK. I've run them on light rifles like Kimber and Tikka ,in 30/06 and 7 Rem mag. In a heavier M700 chambered in 280 AI. Assorted short action rigs as well. Scopes ranging from the 3-9 Leopold,to a monstrous 50 mm 4-16 Viper on the 30mm tube. -

Me too. I'm using Signature rings up to 30mm. So far I've had no issues with them. -

This. My daughter wants to start piecing together her first Sitka gear system. She asked where to start and I told her both of the core hoodies. Both the lite and the heavy. -
300 WSM - Do you feel handicaped?
I would have to agree with that Luke. I've seen various configurations of T3s. I'd have to do a bolt stop change as well I believe. I'm thinking there are a couple T3 300 WSMs advertised locally right now. How do the big VLDs fare velocity wise in the T3 length barrel? I would suppose the slower... -
Sitka Fanatic jacket?
I think the features are pretty cool. Like the assorted pockets. Sometimes I think I'm the only Pennsylvanian that carries a day pack. I require a lot of carp to get the day in. Makes it nice to layer up or down. Not like my younger days when all I had were Dickies coveralls or a Woolrich. -

Luckily,I have the Kelvin lite now. If I can find a couple Fanatics hanging around in different sizes,I can try a couple on. I too like vests. I have a Core 4 Element I wear both hunting and casually. Vests are good gear. -
300 WSM - Do you feel handicaped?
Dang! You fellas are making me think I need to revisit the 300 WSM. My only experience is with a T3. It was a decent shooter. Under an inch with a couple different 180s. It just didn't trip my trigger. Maybe in an actual short action rifle it would make better sense. Can't deny all the support... -

Boots. The key and the curse. I'm currently wearing Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 400. I've found them to be the best compromise of heat and weight. The ankle support is fantastic too. Side hilling isn't a problem anymore. Even with 55 year old ankles,lol. You have to be sock smart. As... -

Will do. I love my Sitka gear. A couple years ago,I hiked back in to the boondocks in the early AM. Cold,snowy bear season opener. Long story short. Hiking back out later in the day,at more like 50 degrees SUCKED. All I had at the time was bulky,heavy Cabelas brand outer wear. What a debacle... -
