Forest nails it with his last sentence. I hunted the other side of the river last year (622). Saw lots of elk, everyday. The terrain can make getting close a challenge. Pick your spots and be prepared to walk.
I’ll offer this: I hunted the northern units (621-622) last year. I hiked in every morning from a camp near the edge of the cmr and was in elk everyday. Point being, I wouldn’t feel like you have to use a boat for access. I didn’t have any issues with other hunting pressure.
Does anyone have prior years harvest reports from Wyoming? All I can find on their website is 2019. If someone has them saved and is willing to share let me know. I’ll message you my email.
Thank you!
Hate that you all had bad experiences with the obsidian pants. I’ve not had any durability issues with mine and I love them. Thought they were perfect for September and worked well in a wide range of temperatures. Quiet; love the cut. I only have one season in them so maybe Wyoming will tear...
Drove to Montana this year from Tennessee. It wasn't bad. In fact, based on my experience this year, I'd probably default to driving in the future. It was really nice having our own rig. We left at 5 am on Friday and we were glassing elk by Sunday afternoon. That said, I wouldn't have...
I’d love to help as I hunted there this year on the archery tag but I spent all of my time on the CMR. Based on my experience I’d try and stick close to the CMR. I didn’t see elk off of it but someone who has had this tag before or is more local will hopefully chime in.
Thanks for the link. Interesting stuff. I agree with you - as an out-of-state hunter I'll keep my mouth shut.
Generally speaking - it was a great hunt. Saw lots of elk. It was big country and came with a learning curve. I think the best general advice I could give is to keep in mind when...
I hunted the breaks this year and saw tons of anti-APR signs on ranches and rolling through towns. What creates the animosity? I don't know enough about the situation to have much of an opinion but, as a hunter, I can't say I am against what they are doing. I spent a lot of my breaks hunt on...
I hunted a really dry unit this year and while I think you're fine to start your hunting/scouting near water I wouldn't let that stop you from moving if you're not seeing elk. Almost all the elk I saw were FAR away from the only water source I knew of in the unit. As in the elk might have been...
They have always shipped quickly for me. As others have said - give them a call. They have great customer service and I suspect if you spoke to someone there and explained the situation someone would walk your order out the door today with expedited shipping.
I drew a Missouri River Breaks tag a few years earlier than I "should" have. I originally assumed it was due to COVID and fewer applications with people just buying points instead but it doesn't seem like the applications have been down.
The other points about tags getting turned back in will...
You might send them back and try the mediums. They will probably be too long for you but you can always get them hemmed. My mediums were roomier in the areas you're complaining about.
Regarding the Obsidians - I wouldn't say they are baggy but, for me, the inseam is to long so I get some pant bunched at the ankles. I'm sending the mediums I ordered back to try a small. The waste has some bunched elastic so I think sizing down these will still fit fine. I'm 5'11 and...
Yes - non-resident. Two years. The 620-21 tag isn't too bad. I think I got lucky and drew it a year or two early but I'm not asking questions. The rifle hunts in those units are extreme long plays.
