Congratulations! That’s a good rule to follow, and glad you stuck to it.
What season were you in CO? We hunt 3rd rifle every year and got hammered with snow this year, but what’s even weirder is that we hardly saw any sign the week following the snow. They just weren’t moving like they...
I did not unfortunately. Had some bills and life stuff of course. I did purchase a Seekins PH2 in 6.5 PRC because it was discounted. I’ll likely do a 7 PRC build eventually.
Just kind of shocked I guess because the rifle has shot a few different rounds so accurately and I’ve read almost all positive reviews of the Terminal Ascent. But I agree! Especially since it likes the Noslers so much
I picked up a box of Federal Terminal Ascent for my 6.5 PRC last week. I’m shooting a Seekins Havak PH2, and every bullet I’ve put through it so far (140 AB, 142 ABLR, and 147 ELD-M) has shot sub MOA, the rifle is much more capable than I am.
Yesterday I went out to shoot the 130 grain Terminal...
Makes sense! Gonna see if I can find some before my hunt next weekend and test it out. I typically don’t shoot beyond 400 so if I can’t find any I’m hoping the TA will shoot well. Appreciate the response.
Mind sharing your reasoning? I know TA has less led, I prefer heavier bonded bullets if I can and I saw the Fusion Tipped is 140 grain, but curious why you’d take those over the TA.
Would you say the same for 6.5 PRC? I just came across the tipped fusion and wasn’t aware of them until now. Have a box of TA to see how they shoot out of my Seekins PH2
Agree with this. I have a 30+ year old Savage 110 in 7mm REM Mag that is a sub MOA shooter with cheap ammo. I now also own a Seekins PH2 in 6.5 PRC and couldn’t be happier.
I was super torn between the B14 Crest and a Seekins PH2, ultimately decided on Seekins and I'm very happy with it. That said, your 6.5 is plenty for elk at closer distances. But if you're set on buying a new rifle look at Seekins in 7 PRC.
I read through this quite a bit the other night, definitely interesting to see how all the different bullets perform but I think you’re right. I have a feeling the ELD-M’s will shoot well but I’m gonna grab some Berger 156 to try out as well
