7mm-08 vs. 6.5 PRC for muleys

Since you have a 7mm-08 and like it, have reload capabilities, why not keep the 7mm-08 and add a .280AI… pretty comparable to the 6.5 PRC, and would have short/long action rifles shooting .284 bullets.

Scott S2? Carter Like Mike 2? Tru Ball Execution?

Not sure if the springs serve the same thing on the RX1 versus the trigger tension adjustment screw on the Stan Solex… the Solex allows you to adjust both the trigger travel and tension. The tension can be set to work in similar fashion to a hinge when tightened down. This might help with the...

    Decoy for Antelope

They help; getting inside 100 yards for open country spot & stalk is a win. Plan on being able to take a *close* shot at 70-80yards. I did have a herd stop and then come back to about 110 yards to see what was there while kneeling with the decoy.

    Fierce Reaper or mtn Reaper

Just bought a new MTN Reaper but haven’t had it out to test yet. Overall fit/finish looks sharp-my buddy had a CA Carbon MPR…said he felt the Fierce had much better attention to detail: folding stock was nicer, much lighter weight, bolt angle/smoothness in cycling out of the box was...

Drew a OIL moose tag….arrow advice!

I still would prefer test/try out a nice fixed blade like a Day 6 Evo or an Iron Will for a OIL moose hunt for added confidence and would use those over a mechanical assuming I could tune them to fly well in advance of the hunt. Here are some additional photos of what I still consider...

Drew a OIL moose tag….arrow advice!

This was mine…I came up on him bedded on a hilltop with several cows. I ranged him at 78, and was trying to close distance, but wind shifted to my backside and was going to be pushing my scent to him after a few steps…ranged again at 72; dialed my sight and sent it. I regularly practice out to...

Drew a OIL moose tag….arrow advice!

I’ve watched two elk drop with Rage Hypodermic 100gr broadheads…mine at 72 yards out of my RX4 shooting Goldtip Pierce Platinums~440gr; my Brother-in-laws that I called in to 34yds with Carbon Maxima Reds (somewhere in same arrow weight class). Not moose, but still effective on big elk. I might...

    270 vs 7mm-08 vs 308 vs 30/06

Of the cartridges you asked about the .30-06 will recoil the most…the 7RM is pretty similar. It jumps a considerable amount again going to a 300WM. My .30-06 (Sako A7 no brake…very similar to the Tikka you are considering) is my least favorite rifle to shoot. That said, it’s compact...

    270 vs 7mm-08 vs 308 vs 30/06

The .270 has more velocity both at the muzzle and at the 600 yard distance (also translating to less drop). It also has more retained energy at that distance—what am I missing? Normally a .30-06 is selected as a harder hitting cartridge over a .270, and a .270 is over a .30-06 for open...

    270 vs 7mm-08 vs 308 vs 30/06

Faster for both the .270 and 7RM…not sure what you are getting at in dropping an elk at 600yds Faster, flatter (less drop), more energy at 600yds over the .30-06. I have no issues with a .30-06; I’ve owned and shot all the questioned caliber/cartridges. I’ve killed elk, oryx, pigs all with my...

Factory data on hornady was only listed to 500yards…that’s why I used Nosler across the board
