    Idaho 20A

Rough is an understatement. My brother and I flew into Cold Meadows Airstrip. We then hiked up to Papoose Lake. Then over to Farrow Mountain. Then back to Papoose Peak. Then over to Cold Mountain, and then back to the airstrip. We are both in excellent shape. We figured we put on 55-60 miles in...

    AZ Draw 2020 - Who's in?

They still hit a few cards yesterday. Most likely the last of the guys that didn't have funds on their cards. I spoke with a game commissioner that said results might be posted today sometime. If things go smooth that is. If not, it will be Friday like they did last year. They're trying every...

Shooting deer from a boat in New Mexico?

As far as I understand it, you follow the same guide lines as shooting ducks from a boat. Or at least in AZ, that's how it works.

26" .284 proof barrel need cartridge help

You won't be disappointed in the 7 SAUM. Excellent caliber choice for a light weight hunting rifle. I've owned a couple of 7 SAUM's, and they are extremely accurate, and super easy to find a load for. I'm picking my next one up November 1st hopefully. I went with a tikka action, that was trued...

Help with Wyoming Preference Points and Draw

Thanks for the responses everyone. After looking at the draw odds, it'll be very unlikely to draw as a second choice. So I'm going to take the advice of johnsd16, and just focus on making it a quality antelope hunt. Thanks again.

Help with Wyoming Preference Points and Draw

I've been building points in Wyoming for 6 years now, and I finally have enough points to draw the antelope unit I want next year. Through research, I have discovered that this area also has a mule deer hunt that coincides with the antelope hunt. The mule deer hunt appears to be drawn with as...

    Trimming case necks

I personally trim my brass to .010" longer than minimum. I don't wait for them to grow either. I fire them, and then trim them. The brass is always the same length, and I never have to worry about brass that's too long. I've seen some over pressure situations due to long brass.

    Best budget long range scopes

I personally watched Formidilosus girlfriend put a better 3 shot group @ 1000 yards with a 6x swfa scope than I could with my 5-25x scope. 10x is plenty to get you to 1000. I now own both the 6x and 10x swfa scopes. Can't say enough good about them for the money.

    Ever take him again?

I feel your pain. I finally drew an early archery bull hunt in AZ (few years ago). You guys know how hard that can be in Arizona. I spent 35 days scouting my unit, shooting my bow every single day for months before the hunt, and everything in between getting ready for the hunt. I friend of mine...

Ballistic profile vs real world data

I've never had a ballistic program ever get my drops 100% correct. The further the yardage, the worse they usually are. The best way to do it is to shoot at multiple distances, as far out as you can possibly shoot. Then do the ballistic calibration with whatever software you are using. Then...

    7mm ELD X 175gr out of 1:10 twist?

I wouldn't bother with the 175's and a 1:10 twist. I'm running a 1:8 in my 7 mag, and they shoot great for me. They wouldn't shoot out of my 1:9.5 twist 7 Saum. The 162's shoot great in my 7 Saum though. I was originally shooting the 168 vlds with my 7 mag, and dropped almost 3 grains in powder...
