@Jimss, pretty accurate statement. Only person who I knew ever hunted antelope in NM is someone who bought a landowner voucher.
Before the change, 3-4 years back maybe..... when you drew an antelope tag, you were assigned a designated ranch to hunt. Since that change, most of the hunts have...
Think there is so much more than just option A & B. By who makes it where. Induvial economics come into play as well. I end up fixing a lot of things myself, plumbing, electrician, mechanic, carpentry etc. if I have to have the part today I will most likely support the local parts supplier...
that link is probably the saddest thing on the Slide. I struggled for so long telling my story on there. My biggest take away is make sure you have a plan in place for your beloved pets.
I've had to move quite a bit with my career, and have found picking hunts similar to picking houses. I make a list of what I want in a hunt, and star the items I have to have vs those that I would be nice to have. These change based on if I am hunting solo or which friends & family are going...
We had a similar scenario, old dog was about 10 years, she was showing some age. Thought would would get a pup to liven her up a bit. Golden doodle pup annoyed the ever-living crap out of the old dog. Last few months the old dog was alive, the now ~ 2 year old pup would keep knocking her down...
OP, it sound like you know what you both want out of a hunt. Just complete the work/ research to find the best likelihood of finding the hunt that meets that criteria. Wanting to see more game usually comes with the challenge of more tags / people. Is that part of the tradeoff you are willing...
Moved to AZ 12 years ago, thought it was weird they didn't accept the previous states hunters ed cert for the point process. Back then required a field day as well. Finding open field days was very difficult. Was able to hit the Ben Avery Exp one year and AZGFD was doing field days & test...
@Gila does the Hunting Rules & Info Booklet show the UW tags? Never saw it in there. Or how are you finding that out? I have always wondered where that is published at.
Live in Tucson, we just had 2 bee stings at work in the last week. Seems like creepy crawlies never go away here. Also, prepare for WIND. seems like it is very windy during those hunts.
Agree. Last time I was at the public range, somebody was swinging a 12 ga shotgun down the line pointing it at everybody. Range officers were oblivious for a good 2 minutes. I immediately picked up my stuff and left.
Just took my 6 year old son out shooting for his birthday this weekend...
I've heard somebody say something to the effect of....
If you want to consistently kill big deer, you may never go elk (or other species) hunting again.
They are just that dedicated to hunting mule deer.
One addition to what I have seen most of you guys post is a cut resistant glove on my non-dominant hand- over the rubber/ nitrile glove.

In high school we had half day Fridays. Was nice even with sports practices moved up, we were out earlier than we would normally have been. Currently, I work a 4 day work week. Hopefully, my children's school moves to a 4 day school week & we gain more adventure 3 day weekends.
Read and followed this thread when it first came out. Just revisited it. In September, had to take my dog to the vet to put her down. This was after an extremely long stressful day at work, including brining in a HAZMAT team. Had many phone calls from the wife throughout the day on the dogs...

"I'm cold as a lion with no hair
If you ever see me fightin in da forest
With a grizzly bear
HELP DA BEAR
Cause that b***h goin need it"
It's what's playing on repeat in my head as I walk into/ out of the woods when its dark.
