    Colorado Archery Season

I like velvet racks so the early part of the season is my preference. They are also less skittish early on.

Archery backpack hunt spare/ back-up equipment

The extra string and cable is good advice. Darrin Cooper did an article in EBJ a few issues back on how to take the pressure off your bow without a bow press. I used to use theis method years ago before I bought a press. It does work very well.

    I'm Done with backtension

Since I beat target panic in 2006 I have not punched my release once. Like it or not back tension is the key to accurate and more importantly consistent shooting. While not every shot will be executed with perfect back tension, it is the foundation of a consistent shot. It aids in steadying the...

    The "Scent Bomb"

Agreed. Slowing your approach is reason enough.

The Red Zone - The Final 200 Yards.

I got stuck without my rain gear last year. Not a mistake I will repeat. I learned that day that game bags make poor rain gear. My boots are pretty much always off by that point and as Bowhunter7 said, slowing down. If I can hear my own steps so can the deer. I usually take a big drink of water...

    Bedded or not bedded?

Put them to bed, make sure they are staying put for a while and get moving. That is what virtually every day of my hunt looks like.

    How many arrows?

The biggest reason I ask is because I really like to shoot my bow and carry a judo in my quiver. I take a shot or two every time I'm out in the field. Since I have started doing that my confidence in the field has risen dramatically.

    Spotters: Angled vs Straight

I've also owned both and prefer the straight scope. My reason is that I often glass with my 15's and switch to the scope. I found that I had to readjust the height of my tripod too much when switching to the angled. It was a hassle.

    Whisker Biscuit/Hostage VS Drop AWAYS!

I've used several different Trophy Taker rests and the past three years have been using the Limb Drivers. I just don't like the slop in the rest when adjusting. I'm considering trying an AAE Pro Drop, but am a little concerned about the rod that the arm attaches to. I used one of their first...

    How many arrows?

I am not what you would call a back country bow hunter. I am considering a back country hunt this year though. So my question is, how many arrows do you take on your pack in trips? Assuming a full quiver of 4-6 arrows, do you take extras in your pack? Or just extra broadheads? It should be...

    Mule Deer Collection

I might as well play along... 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2010. My son hiked in 4.5 miles to see daddy's deer. My favorite picture ever!

    What's More Important to you?

I've taken one that was 29 1/2" wide and a couple of tall bucks. I want one with trash!

    Compact Spotting Scope

You could buy 3 and half Minox for the price of one Nikon. That has me concerned. I do have a pair of the 15x58 Minox that I like quite a bit though.

The 2012 David L vs Aron S challenge!

While I think this is an interesting concept, I have to give the nod to David on this one. I'm not sure the first velvet covered forkie won't be in trouble:) I also know that you should draw a good elk tag this year and that will be in the front of you mind trying to get the deer hunt over with...
