I killed an elk at just over 100 yards with the 180 Interbond. No pics, it’s was years ago. Bullet exited with a would about the size of a quarter. It worked but not nearly the amount of tissue damage that a 178gr ELDM caused.
I have done every method. Wet tumbling is by far the best; it’s easier, cleaner and more effective. I use SS pins; with a rotary separator, very rarely will a pin get stuck in the brass. Rarely. I will catch it when doing the post washing case prep.
But shooting suppressed all the time, thus...
Final shots (can only post 10 pics at a time)
Edit:
Sorry the pics for some reason didn’t go through in the order I uploaded them. It would make more sense if they did…
This is long.
Background:
At the end of summer I decided to put together a light weight bolt rifle for an upcoming CO cow elk hunt. I usually hunt with AR based systems in AZ, but have also hunted with a semi-custom tikka in 30-06 with a Maven 1.2 (see 1st pic). I did not want to bring an AR...
Regarding the Exo, it could be both. I just came back from a hunt using the Exo for the first time, and having the pack full and the adjustment super tight to close, make the rifle pop out easily.
Have you studied anatomy diagrams? If yes and you trust your shooting skills, range, position, etc… then yes.
But since you didn’t feel comfortable, then no.
From my experience in the field, a bolt that doesn’t lock closed and a 90 degree throw is a non-starter for me. I wanted to use a custom for a light weight build, but non-locking bolt is a no-go. I will just have UM lighten up a tikka action.
After using UM tikka rings, I don’t “need” and...
Chop it. This is a 16” chopped super light 6.5 CM. Slaughtered this elk at 302 yards.
ETA: this was also with 130gr TMK on top of 45.5 of Staball 6.5 for 2750 fps at muzzle. 3 shots, two pass through and one caught in office hide. 78gr recovery with meat, so maybe 70ish gr of bullet left...

I would like the action to build up for an ARC. I don’t like the heavy profile barrel nor the stock. The rifle is way too heavy for what it is. The stock feels like garbage to me.
