I’ve had two encounters with non hunters while on the trail. One was with dogs and they asked us not to shoot their dogs then laughed. We were polite and everyone walked away with a smile on their face. The other encounter was odd, 5 women and one guy. One of the women wanted her picture taken...
The Ca forests are in region 5, the humbolt toiyabe is in Region 4 and the Rogue is in Region 6. The closures are region specific…it just so happens that all of the closed forests in Ca are in a single region. Just mentioning the specifics.
They are good at picking up and holding onto screwdrivers too.
I don’t mind the rocks. I do have two complaints though, 1) they are heavy, and 2) they are pricey. But I’m good with that given their durability. I trust they won’t leave me stranded.
I’ve run Goodyear duratracs, BFG ko2, cooper STT Pro and now have a set of cooper st Maxx. The duratrac has weak sidewalls, they were E rated and they just split on me. The BFG didn’t impress me in winter driving. The STT Pros wore out really fast. For me the st Maxx has been the toughest tire...
I sent back my A12 tag this morning. I’ll get my points back plus one for this year. It’s a bummer for sure. My buddy kept his tag and is going to try and fill it before the closure Sunday night.
Right now I have a Lamiglas X-11 6.5 foot ultralight, and really like it. My daughter uses a 7foot ultralight and I can’t recall who it’s made by, but it was inexpensive and I really like her rod too. I have traded with her on numerous occasions.
I should talk with the other two guys that are in my party to see what they want to do. Thanks for the hard to accept response but I fear it’s the smart thing to do.
The Beckworth fire is now at 90,000 acres and its completely within the A12 zone (California archery zone that is the same as the X6B rifle zone). They say it’s 20(ish) percent contained and full containment is expected by July 30th. I’m wondering if that will actually happen and what is going...
CRK tolerances are beyond compare in the knife world. I want another to go with the one I already have but it’s hard to date two women at once, especially if you really love the one you already have.
I got my CRK small Inkosi back in 2017. Every spyderco, benchmade, lion steel, zero tolerance I have has sat in the safe since. I seriously have not carried another folder since then. CRK makes amazing knives. One of my favorite things about it, CRK actually encourages owners to dissemble and...
I’ve lived in NM, WI, CO and now in CA. Short of meeting my wife, moving here was a massive mistake. People everywhere, cost of living is mind boggling, the political climate is a joke, and hunting is hands down the worst. Speaking of hunting, resident prices for license and tags are stupid. In...
If you can get one, I would say Phil Wilson all day every day. Contact him, get on his list and as he gets closer to finishing a knife or batch of them he goes through his list, containing people to see if what he made is what you want.

Thanks for everyone’s responses. After posting last night I decided to check my reloading stash and I’ve only got a few accubonds left and an unopened box of TTSX. Then I checked my loaded ammo and it’s about the same, 6 loaded accubonds and about 40 TTSX. Based on the majority of...
I got a 25-06 for my deer rifle and I am wondering which bullet would you prefer, Barnes 100 grain TTSX or Nosler’s 110 grain Accubond. Both shoot sub 0.5 MOA in my rifle. This will be for a mule deer hunt in Nevada, and if I’m being honest with my abilities I’m super comfortable with 300 yards...
