The best pump guns are gone, but they're still cheap to buy on the used market and ready to serve for another few generations of use.
Check out the Winchester Model 12 in 20 gauge. For a bargain buy that works as well as anything ever made, J.C. Higgin's Model 20 is sweet shotgun. I snagged...
AGP Arms' version is the only lightweight folder I've used, and though it's not a true lightweight, it works well for these straight-pull builds.
Folding hunting chassis for bolt-guns spoiled me. I'll take a weight penalty for length reduction any day...
For anyone considering an aoudad hunt, I have two suggestions: Book it now because prices won't go down, and consider going with Mike McKinney at West Texas Hunt Organization (westtexashunt.com).
Mike runs a solid operation and employs quality guides like Casey Sanford, who I've hunted with 4...
Savage 99A in .250-3000 my grandpa bought me in a pawn shop. Killed my first blacktail with it at age 9 in '94. Didn't kill another deer with it until 2020. To me, this will always be the quintessential hunting rifle and cartridge.
Astute observers may notice something funny on the muzzle...
Guys, check out this 2.2-pound double-rifle chambered in .17 HMR or .22 Hornet. If everyone on this thread pitches in $500, we can maybe snag a sample and share ownership. Wow...

Metrogun extension works great. I had one 5 years ago. The only issue is length. True shotty suppressors are great. For waterfowl hunting, they’d be awesome.
Phoenix Weaponry makes integrally suppressed shotguns. I plan on buying a 410 through them for pest control.
Call it what you want, but it is a common knock on the action, one of very few I must add. The Tikka bolt lift is heavier than other designs. It's not the heaviest (that title might go to the atrocious Remington 770) nor a deal breaker, but I feel it and so do others.
You've made your point...
The typical vs. nontypical dilemma reminds me of a recent archery hunt in the desert. Because I couldn't decide which buck to shoot—the dreaded "Pope & Young paralyzation"—all I got was this photo. Probably for the best, as this bachelor group could use another year.
Good takes above. I have two HNT26 chassis, and I love them dearly. They’re not perfect, but they are rock solid and fold. Hard to beat that. For the money though, the Rokstok is a better value.
Great topic. I have way too many that have accumulated over the years. Ideally, I’d have only 3 to 5 and know and trust each one, but I love each and every one of my many other rifles, some I’ve not even fired. It’s an addiction.
My passion is hunting and guns, but with two small kids, I don’t...
Success last night on a DIY mouse trap. Used a baby formula can, SWFA sunshade, thin cord, and a dollop of peanut butter. It caught our mouse in 15 minutes.
Reached out to my dad and uncle to remember the family backstory on the infamous "bucket trap." They first saw it deployed on a moose hunt...
