    Can this be real?

I think it's real. There is the obvious scapula moving with each step, but slow it down to half speed and look at the back half of the wound on the bottom flap of skin. You can see the edge rolling over and bouncing/trembling. That is some real attention to detail if it's a fake and it just...

    Shooting bumped birds, GSPs

How does an experienced dog handle pheasants running after a point? Should they be breaking point and trying to keep the bird pinned down or is it kind of just a fact of life to have birds no longer where the dog is on point. I'm new to this obviously.

    Shooting bumped birds, GSPs

except for her knowingly bumping it obviously. Honestly, I cant imagine that to be a huge problem for her. After I stomped around her points for a solid two minutes without flushing anything I couldn't even get her to come off her point to try and pin down a better location for the bird or to...

    Shooting bumped birds, GSPs

Cool, thanks guys, that's good to know because I was leaning towards not shooting if she ran over it without smelling but I will take every opportunity I can get to shoot.

    Shooting bumped birds, GSPs

Today was the first hunt of my dog's first season and my first season with a dog. She is 13 month old GSP. We had two solid points but never could get a bird in the air, I think they must have ran when they heard us coming and she was smelling where they had been but I'm not sure, she was locked...

    camping/daily driver?

So I think I've decided on an SUV+ canvas wall/bell tent. SUV to comfortably carry my buddies and keep the tent in the back. I will also set up the SUV to sleep in if its just the wife and I on a short trip. Can you recommend a good used SUV for about $10k? It will be a daily driver 95% of the...

WY, ID, MT spring spot and stalk

Looking at a spring bear spot and stalk. I'm trying to decide between the above states. Idaho and Western MT are both about 21 hour drive for me. That's two fewer days of hunting compared to the bighorns for example, in WY that are a 14hr drive but the quota in WY shutting down the season has me...

New take on the euro mount, feedback needed.-cleared by Robby

I like it and would display it but wouldn't spend more than $100 for it. But it is really cool.

    Slumberjack SJK Outpost 4 Tipi

I don't know anything about tipi style shelters but it seems like there would be a lot of wind and draft coming in under the bottom. Is it supposed to be that high off the ground?

    Idaho Spring Bear

So, comparing for example, unit 39 and 43, 39 has over 4 times as many bears harvested yet the units are bordering each other. Is there some topographical, habitat, or species population reason for this? Or do you think it has more to do with 39 being closer to Boise and seeing more hunters...

Glock VS. Springfield XDM in 10mm?

I have no idea, that's just what they said. I have no scientific data for that. John Correia and Aaron Cowen, see youtube channels 'Active Self Protection' and 'Sage Dynamics', said similar things as well. Personally, I don't like that they are priced the same as a Glock or M&P. I would rather...

Glock VS. Springfield XDM in 10mm?

I have spoken to two firearms instructors who train hundreds of people per year and both said that they greatly prefer Glock over Springfield XD. One said that of all the pistols that break in his class, about 25-50% are XD's. But this is info from people you've never met so take it for what...

    Camper? Tent? Bivy? All three?

How many shelter types do you have and how much do you actually use any particular one? I'm trying to narrow down exactly what kind of shelter I should invest in. If I had pack animals, I would get a canvas wall tent and stay really comfortable back in there a few miles. Unfortunately, I can...

    College Student Advice

My wife and I went OTC Mule deer in Idaho from Eastern Iowa last year. Only I had a tag. My tag/license, gas for a 21 hour drive, food, and two or three nights in a hotel at the end of the week cost $1200. We prepared our own dried meals and ate sandwiches from a cooler. $1200 didn't include...

DIY Saddle rig/setup they'd like to share?

I use a rock climbing harness and a piece of fleece as the saddle. It's pretty comfortable. Comfortable enough that I can't really justify buying a commercial one when that $200 could go towards other things I want more.
