    budget Over/under shotgun.

So I've been looking for used guns. Here are some pics of the muzzle of a citori that, otherwise, is in very good condition and looks quite nice. Are those scratches and dings anything to be concerned about for structure or function or is it just cosmetic? If they were scratching and dings on...

    Elk Hunting with Newborn Baby?

I don't know which guys said they were taking the entire year off...I think everyone who has had kids has said they still managed to get out there at some point, I certainly did manage to go hunt, just not the same trips I normally did. The funny/actually not funny thing I see is the guy who has...

    Elk Hunting with Newborn Baby?

LOL these "p***y whipped" husbands putting their wives and children's needs above their own desires... that sounds like something you would hear from some one who has either never been married or has done it two or three times lol

    Elk Hunting with Newborn Baby?

I had to skip my spring turkey trip when mine was a month or two old. Initially my wife said I could go but then she started working her way into the coming with me even though there was no way that would work with her and a baby because I camp out of the car...it was clear at that point, she...

Building points in non hunt years

I have kind of a broad question and I'm expecting some broad answers but at least it will be a starting point....I am trying to change careers and between training cost and low entry level pay for the new job, i'm expecting money to be tight and I won't be able to do any out of state hunts for...

    Mule Deer

I enjoyed this, it's a nice little thread. What state are you in?

    budget Over/under shotgun.

Ok, but I'm getting an O/U. Like I said above, I started looking for used guns to get in the $1000 range for a quality firearm. That's how I found the used Beretta I mentioned...........do you have thoughts on the prices I quoted?

I should add that the 686 stock was cut short and a spacer added.

    budget Over/under shotgun.

Okay, so I'm really looking for a good USED gun. I have a lead on a Beretta 686 essential for $700. It's in ok shape, small dings and scratches, slight discolored smudges on the receiver etc. and one inch long crack on the fore end. My dad just bought the same gun three weeks ago in similar...

    budget Over/under shotgun.

I am looking for an over/under for upland hunting for $1k. Just hunting, no trap/skeet. Obviously, if I find a used Citori or Beretta that fits my needs, I will buy that. However, for new guns, I am looking at the CZ redhead and redhead All terrain model vs the Mossberg International Silver...

    EDC w/ Small Children

If you're concerned about a kid hugging you from the front, a gun in the pocket is pointed in generally the same direction as with appendix carry. I appendix carry with kids around and don't have an issue. I find that it is actually an area that is much easier to "guard" from accidental bumps...

Small Hunting / House / Mountain Dog

If you want a pointing breed you're looking at Small Munsterlanders and Britanys are around 35-45lbs, Vizsla around 35-50lbs. If you realllllly want one under 30lbs I think you are going to have to get a spaniel- Cocker, Springer, or Boykin type.

    First Bear Hunt

You can also do a cheap, easy diy hunt in the 'off' years just to stay active. A pronghorn hunt is a good one to do DIY and fairly inexpensive, really inexpensive if you don't care about a wall hanger and just want to go shoot a couple does.

    First Bear Hunt

I have been on half as many western hunts as you but the mountain hunts (muley and black bear) have been busts for me. I'm going back for black bear again and I think I will be going with an outfitter at least until I have more experience...even if that means I have to skip a year to save up. By...

    Camper vs Tent?

I feel like a tent and RV/camper setup aren't in the same ballpark. The more applicable comparison is a smaller 'teardrop' or square drop style camper vs a tent/camping gear and a cargo trailer to haul it all. Either way you are pulling something of similar size. It's then a debate over walk...

    Camper vs Tent?

I'm trying to think of a way to incorporate all the amenities INTO the utility trailer as one compact package that you could drive off with. Then all you have to do is take down the tent and toss it in.

    Camper vs Tent?

Do you have any pictures? I am trying to decide between this sort of setup or a larger sized off-road teardrop camper for four people. I like the camper for the speed of packing up to switch spots, you really just shut the door and drive off, but I like the tent idea and utility trailer for the...
