I killed an antelope and a bull with 2.0 Sevr this season and agree with you. They’d be great if you had an unlimited supply and they were free, but they’re essentially one-and-done. I’m going back to fixed blade next season.
Stone Glacier DeHavilland Jacket - 2022 model, single-tone coyote color
Size XL
Worn a few times, very mild use, never sweated in, never washed. Couple soot marks from brushing up on some burned timber (minor), they’d wash right out.
$150 tyd USPS. Prefer Venmo.
Edit: Potentially would trade...
If you’re finding cows and not bulls, go higher and find nastier country. The bulls get very shy in late October and they’ll tolerate knee deep snow if it means that people will leave them alone.
Ya, hanging is the easiest. I’m more worried about chipmunks chewing up my gear than bears, chipmunks are a pain. I usually run a 3L cnoc dirty bag threaded to my filter plus a 3L bladder/hose and a 1L smartwater bottle (for shaking up liquid IV and preworkout). Unless it’s a backcountry base...
I’d absolutely ditch the extra pad (bring it but leave in the truck) and bag liner. 15-degree bag and your mid layers will be fine. As someone else said, don’t let one bad deal make you neurotic and over-pack. Bear sack and bear spray can stay home too. Those four things will lighten you up...
Had basically the same thing happen to me this spring. Best I could figure, the nock broke apart upon release…there was no nock at the end of the carbon when the dust settled. Destroyed one cam, strings and cables and full set of limbs, took 2 months for all the replacement parts to show up...
Man, if you’re new to backpacking and high altitude…do you really want to ride out an alpine lightning storm under one man tarp? How about two alpine lighting storms with 15-20 minutes of marble-sized hail mixed in? At least get a silex or something. Getting your teeth kicked in by a mountain...
If you’re just camping at the trailhead in a wall tent with a heater, bring a couple big quilts from home and call it good. They’re more comfortable to sleep under anyways and easier to pull over your head in the morning when you don’t want to get up. I always use quilts from home if I’m at a...
I did have the same issue with the d-loop not allowing my Wise Choice to close while setting up a bow a few months ago. Just needed to lengthen the d-loop slightly and was good to go, but it was quite the mind bender for a minute.
I am 32x34 in all pants. I’m 6-2, 190 pounds with big thighs. I have the original dehavilland pants in size Medium-Large, they’re a perfect fit. The mediums were fine for length but skin tight in the thighs, large were way too big in the waist.
I would sell the one I have, I took the paracord off the handle and I don’t think I have the cord anymore. Other than that, it hasn’t been used and the factory edge is decent, not razor sharp. PM me if interested, I’ll probably post an official ad tonight.
