.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Sorry, these are just factory ammo. I have 1000 77tmks but haven't had time to load some up. Got this rifle 3 weeks ago so I haven't had much time to get it shooting before antelope and elk season.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Killed a cow elk this morning at 320 yards. Hit her in the chest looking at me. She was pretty wobbly but gave me another shot broadside. Didn't get pictures of the heart and lungs but I believe the first shot hit the lungs and the second hit the heart. Either way she didn't go more than ten...

6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

I had to read a few comments. That lack of understanding bullets, cartridges, and terminal performance is strong in those comments. Wow. Im no expert but most of the commenters sure act like they are and it's obvious they don't know much.

    Sportsman’s Warehouse

SW has sucked for so many years now. I haven't stepped foot in one for 2-3 years. What I can't find at my local mom and pop store I can usually find at Scheels.

    Animal reaction after match bullet?

215 Berger hybrid 300 WM I started shooting this combo in 2016. 6 cows -All but 1 never went further than 20 yards. 1 was drt (high shoulder) and 1 peeled off from the group and went maybe 50 yards then slid down a snowy slope. 1 bull - Soaked up 3 shots to the lungs. Went 100 yards. First shot...

When should outfitters or guides have idea where deer are?

They probably hit up the same places they see deer every year. Mule deer can be anywhere but they tend to be in the same places year after year. I hit many of the same glassing knobs year after year and it just works. I've never been on a guided hunt btw.

    Different bullets for cow elk

I'd go with the match bullet. Switched to match bullets about 10 years ago and wouldn't go back to a bonded or hunting type bullet. Seems to plant them where you shot them.

How do you choose a custom rifle builder?

    That is a beautiful rifle.

Did you forget your rifle in the Mendocino NF?

A good friend of mine left a Winchester leaned up against a tree when he was about 14. His Dad had him sit in against a tree for the morning and to walk the ridge out to the road around noon. Well, he walked out to the road where his dad picked him up but his rifle wasn't with him. He said they...

    Outfitters banning bergers?!

Everything I've killed up to this year since 2016 was with a 215 hybrid out of a 300wm. Never a loss. About half were drt and the others didn't go more than 30 yards. I'm using the 223 this year with eldm's and 77tmks. Have a couple cow tags and a buck tag. No doubt they'll kill just as well...

    223 varmint ammo

Been digging around the internets and found mid south shooters supply sells 55 gr flat base hollow points 250ct for $39. I think I'll have to give those a try and load them in the adi after I use those up. I'll use the normal for my hunting rounds. I've have good luck with norma brass over the...

    223 varmint ammo

I have 400 pieces of new Norma brass that I'd like to keep for the 77tmk. I also have all the spent brass from 73 eldm factory loads. I've heard Hornady brass sucks so maybe I'll load up some varmint bullets with those and see how they work.

    Old Stone sheep hunt

Those old movies are the best and I watch at least one of his each year.

    223 varmint ammo

After I shoot up the 200 rds of adi stuff maybe I'll just reload a varmint bullet. It'll probably be the cheapest route.

    223 varmint ammo

I have a box of the 55 gr vmax I got for a gift. Haven't shot them yet. I've seen it $55-60 for a box of 50 so kind of expensive.
