Been almost completely in MM fund for the last month or two, just riding things out with the ~4.5% net yield those are offering right now. I did, however, dip back into PR today. Not a huge position, but with the quarterly dividend cutoff yesterday and with the latest dip in crude price I got in...
I haven't been up to that unit yet, but I mean to at some point. I think you'll have fun, just make sure you're hitting the stairclimber or getting out in the mountains before then. It's easy to underestimate the terrain here, probably because it's generally not very high elevation. But a...
$10K to me is a rightfully steep fine for the offense. I still credit the hunter for doing the right thing, he sounds like he did not have nefarious intent. But that’s why he was not hit with the maximum penalty which would have included jail time. Idk what it costs for a guided grizzly hunt but...
To me it's not in question whether this deserved punishment, which I believe it did, but a separate issue altogether that I think is valid that poachers generally aren't being punished severely enough.
I disagree. He owned the mistake, and it kept him out of jail. Owning up to a mistake is responsible, but it doesn't entitle anyone to avoiding punishment altogether. Good on this man for owning the mistake. At the end of the day he illegally killed a protected animal, there should be a penalty...
Same, got the tip from the Huberman Lab podcast like I bet you did as well. I don't take my first sip of my two morning cups til about 2.5 hours after wakeup now. Helped me cut my post-lunch cup of coffee out.
I just shot an axis deer in the shoulder at 100 yards two weeks ago with 140 ELDM out of a Tikka 6.5 CM, MV was about 2650 so expect impact velocity around 2500 fps. Slightly downhill shot on bedded deer, so no doubt the shoulder blade was retracted high. I was surprised that I had no exit. Deer...
Not the worst idea. The regional banks are so down, and with them the ETFs as well. But an ETF can’t go to zero, so if you are patient and have a long enough time horizon you might be on to something.
Took a breather from all this stuff the last couple weeks due to a really great Lanai hunt and some work travel. Starting to pay attention again.
MM funds yield likely to go up further after today's rate hike considering the chart I saw on Zero Hedge that overlaid the Fed Funds Rate with MM...

Here’s one recent summary of the situation in the agricultural exploitation of groundwater side of things. This does not address the Colorado River...
TLDR, my wife and I think we’ll retire to AZ in the next few years from active duty, but it seems like the sky is falling wrt to the future of water in that part of the country (i.e. the future of the Colorado River being unable to meet demand.) Would water concerns make you think twice about...
Gotta admit I was wrong on this one, I have been overlooking that small print asterisked statement at the bottom of that page that says that you can actually hunt whatever deer you see in the Maui public areas. Now I have no idea if those areas actually hold any deer.
I failed to add that Mokulele Air doesn’t allow antlers/skulls as checked bag or carry-on, policy changed in October.
Edit: ah yep I did point this out above.
