Whens the last time you shot a gun and didn't know what caliber it was??? We can sit here a play hypotheticals and what ifs to change the narrative in our favor all day, bottom line, here in the real world and not fanatsy land where you magically remove the human aspect of firing a rifle...
If it were me, Id load 20 at 58.0grs at mag length, shoot 10 to get a zero and 10 to validate at distance and be done. Tiny changes in powder charge and seating depth are not telling and waste components
Pretty sure the move to less recoil is because you can shoot it more accurately, not because anyone is afraid of recoil and the dozens and dozens of kills with smaller calibers have proven that big magnums arent necessary
So by your logic, higher recoiling cartridges require you to shoot differently by imparting more pressure and potentially torque on the rifle, but when you dont shoot it as well, dont blame the higher recoiling cartridge!!! That's what you're saying?!?!? I think thats funny, lol
You literally describe proper shooting form and technique then advocated not using and changing it due to recoil all while trying to claim that the higher recoil cartridge is not the problem!! 🤔
I dont know that there are really any more secure. I will add that when I break an animal down, I do the gutless method not the traditional way where you literally break the elk down into 4 pieces with a saw or hatchet. I haven't used a saw on an animal in a decade probably. So depending on how...
Outfitters pack station makes a really good set. Ive been just putting my game bags into a heavy canvas game bag and "mantying" that and throwing a barrel hitch. Having 1 good set is nice for tossing back packs into though
Heres the trailhead supply panniers, you can see that they sit high on the horse, the bottom of the pannier is even with the half breed of the pack saddle. Plus some of the better panniers have a wooden dowel across the top to distribute the weight while a lot of the others dont and just dead...
My favorite panniers are from Trailhead Supply that is unfortunately out of business. I won't use panniers that dont have straps that allow you to "lift" the load up. I tried the Mountain Ridge supply ones but the straps dont lift the pannier, it just secures the lid to the body of the pannier
Tying your horse up correctly so they cant step over the lead rope goes without saying, Ive done it for years and never had an issue leaving them tied to a tree while out hunting, plus if your horse is trained, getting a rope around a leg shouldn't be an issue. My horse gets unsaddled when I am...
I dont personally use them that way because I always have a pack horse, but you could roll them up and tie them up behind your cantle until you needed them. I typically have 2 pack horses with me and put panniers on 1 pack horse with backpacks in the panniers of that horse and put the other set...
Ill give my 2 cents. I high line at night and have the lead rope long enough so that they can eat taking into account the stretch of the highline when they bed down. Make sure to use swivels so they dont get twisted up, I run a fuse also so if they have to breakaway they can and not take the...
